Esto No Es Una Cancion
Ana Belén Lyrics

No me hablen del honor
No me cuenten batallas
Ganadas cara al sol.
Tal vez si me contaran
Que no importa el color
Ni sexo, ni la raza
O el bando en que luchó.
No me hablen de la patria
No me hablen del valor
No jueguen con el sable,
Ni tachen de traidor.
Al que la lleva adentro
Pegada al corazón
Why no anda por la calle
Con ella en procesión.
Cuando hablen de la patria
No olviden que es mejor
Sentirla a nuestro lado
Que ser su salvador.
Por repetir su nombre
No te armas de razón
Aquí cabemos todos
O no cabe ni Dios.
The lyrics of Ana Belén's song "No es posible" express a strong critique against the concept of patriotism and the glorification of war. The song rejects the idea of talking about the homeland, honor, and battles won under the sun. It questions the importance of color, gender, race, or the side one fought for in a conflict. Ana Belén implies that these factors should not define one's worth or identity.
The second verse continues to reject talking about patriotism and valor. It discourages playing with swords or labeling someone as a traitor. Instead, the song suggests that those who truly hold patriotism within themselves, close to their hearts, should not parade it in the streets. It criticizes the empty repetition of a patriotic name without understanding its true meaning. The final verse emphasizes that it is better to feel a connection to the homeland rather than trying to be its savior. It suggests that unity and inclusivity are more important than exclusivity or narrow definitions of patriotism. The lyrics conclude by stating that either everyone fits in the concept of the homeland or even God does not fit.
