After the critical and commercial success of 2001's "Gozo Poderoso", which landed Aterciopelados on the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Latin Albums Sales chart as well as a coveted appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Echeverri took time off for the birth of her first child Milagros, who has proven to be a new point of artistic inspiration. The result is the self-titled album Andrea Echeverri, Andreas first solo release. The disc was produced by Hector Buitrago from Aterciopelados and mixed by Thom Russo (Juanes, Kinky, Johnny Cash), and also features a remix from Richard Blair (Sidestepper).
On "A Eme O", the albums upbeat first single, Echeverri observes the bond between mother and daughter as Milagros cries late at night. "Some songs are written for Milagros, but they sound like they're written for a lover," said Echeverri. Going ever further, she satirizes the highly sexualized lyrics of the Colombian genre called champeta, naming one of the albums tracks Lactochampeta. Its kind of a joke, because it has explicit lyrics about lactating.
After a recent series of successful tour dates (including headlining the Latin Alternative Music Conferences Women Who Rock concert in front of 10,000 people at the Santa Monica Pier, as well as the recent La Banda Elastica Magazine Awards), Andrea Echeverri looks forward to spending additional time visiting U.S. markets this spring in support of her new album on Nacional Records. With a backing band featuring members of Aterciopelados, longtime fans of the group can also look forward to new interpretations of Aterciopelados classics.
Buen Augurio

Por si en una mala estación
Mi tren tuviera que parar
Por si en alguna ocasión
Me carcomiera el desazón (Familia)
Flores para cantar canciones
Velas para alumbrar los muros
Incienso y otras yerbas
Incienso y otras yerbas
Un buen augurio, pal' futuro
Yo necesito protección
Por si fortuita la enfermedad
Mi cuerpecito inmolará
Por si en alguna ocasión
Necesitará curación
Sí duele, toma una gota de armonía
Sí cansa, bebe del cosmos la energía
Sí aburre, de esta canción toma alegría
Si estás desesperado, yo correré a tu lado
Y en vez de tejado
Tendrás un cielo de estrellas güacado
(Y viene) Flores para cantar canciones
Velas para alumbrar los muros
Incienso y otras yerbas
Un buen augurio, pal′ futuro
Incienso y otras yerbas
Incienso y otras yerbas
Un buen augurio, pal' futuro
Incienso y otras yerbas
Un buen augurio, pal′ futuro. (yeah)
In Andrea Echeverri's song "Buen Augurio," the lyrics express the desire for protection and good fortune in various situations. The singer mentions needing protection for when her metaphorical train stops in a bad season or if she were to get sick. She desires a way to cope with the pain and tiredness that may come, and she finds solace in the universe's energy and harmony. The singer finds comfort in her tools for good luck, such as flowers to sing songs, candles to light the walls, and incense and other herbs for a good omen. She is aware of the sadness that life can bring and how it can manifest in one's body, but she believes that the tracks of the soul can leave a positive mark, and a smile will bring back good health.
