At age 5, she got an accordion and at age 6, Ro Ro composed a guarânia with it; her first song. At age 8, she began studying classical piano, influenced by icons such as Maysa, Jacques Brel, Ella Fitzgerald (and later Janis Joplin), whom she would elect as her musical idols.
In 1971, Angela Ro Ro Ro moved to London and alternated her work as a cleaner and waitress with that of singer and pianist. Back to Brazil, in 1974, she performed in the best nightclubs in Rio de Janeiro, with a repertoire chosen according to her personal preferences. She became known as a singer and songwriter in 1976, when she participated in the rock festival Som, Sol e Surf, organized by the journalist and music producer Nelson Motta in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, in which Rita Lee, Raul Seixas and Made in Brazil also performed. In 1979 the song Agito e Uso was recorded by As Frenéticas and Não Há Cabeça by Marina Lima and Ney Matogrosso. In the following year, Ney Matogrosso interpreted Balada da Arrasada. She released her first album, Angela Ro Ro, in 1979, by PolyGram, with arrangements by pianist Antônio Adolfo on several tracks. The song Tola Foi Você was her debut on the radio, but her first big hit was Amor, Meu Grande Amor, whose lyrics are by Ana Terra. Gota de Sangue had great repercussion in the voice of Maria Bethânia around the same period.
Me Acalmo Danando

Eu é que fico a sorrir e a fazer palhaçada
Como é triste beijar sem ser beijada
Como é duro amar sem ser amada
Meu tormento não passa e você adiando
É o mar que me traga, é o barco afundando
É a ilha deserta que eu chego atracando
Eu que suporto e reclamo, lhe afasto e me chamo
Amo somente um vazio e me acalmo danando
Amo somente um vazio e me acalmo danando
Sua presença destrói todos meus desenganos
Minha ausência causou-lhe uma série de danos
Tento provar o contrário e adormeço errando
Amo somente um vazio e me acalmo danando
Amo somente um vazio e me acalmo danando
The lyrics to Angela Ro Ro's song "Me Acalmo Dançando" (I Calm Myself by Dancing) describe the singer's experience of unrequited love. She is in a relationship where she is constantly making efforts to express her feelings and make the other person happy, but she receives no response in return. She feels the sadness of kissing without being kissed back and loving without being loved back. The relationship is characterized by the singer's torment and the other person's procrastination. The singer uses metaphors such as a sinking boat, a deserted island, and illusions of someone being saved to describe her feelings of hopelessness and despair.
The second stanza of the song describes the singer's conflicting emotions. She tries to distance herself from the relationship, but at the same time, she longs for the other person's presence. She feels as though her own brightness is overwhelming and may be the cause of the other person's disinterest. However, she is afraid that being the beginning of an era could lead to the other person's downfall. The singer realizes that the other person's presence destroys all her doubts and uncertainties, but her absence causes damage to the other person. She struggles to prove otherwise and ultimately finds solace in dancing alone.
Overall, "Me Acalmo Dançando" is a poignant expression of the pain and self-doubt that often accompany unrequited love. Through the use of powerful and evocative language, Angela Ro Ro captures the complex emotions and internal conflict of a troubled relationship.
