Ik denk nog vaak aan haar
Ze was de mooiste van de klas
En ieder keek haar na (en ieder keek haar na)
Na schooltijd was ze steeds bij mij
We hadden veel plezier
Want als het huiswerk was gemaakt
Dan ging ik aan de zwier
Miranda Miranda
Miranda was m'n jeugdvriendin
Het was een fijne tijd
Ze vond me toch zo'n leuke knul
En ik zei lieve meid ik wil je nooit meer kwijt
De jaren vlogen snel voorbij
We groeiden uit elkaar
Maar soms dan wordt ik even stil
En denk ik weer aan haar
Aan Miranda Miranda
Miranda Miranda
Miranda was m'n jeugdvriendin
En ik besef nu pas
Dat zij voor mij toch heel veel meer
Dan enkel vriendschap was
Miranda Miranda

The song "Miranda" by Arne Jansen is a nostalgic reflection on the singer's childhood friend and the emotions associated with their relationship. Miranda is described as a beautiful girl who captured the attention of everyone in their class. The singer fondly remembers their time together, especially after school when they would have fun and enjoy each other's company. The repetition of "Miranda Miranda" emphasizes the impact she had on the singer's life.
In the second paragraph, the song suggests that the passage of time caused the singer and Miranda to grow apart. The years flew by quickly, and they drifted away from each other. However, there are moments when the singer is overwhelmed by a sudden stillness, reminiscing about the memories they shared with Miranda. This implies that even though they may have lost touch, she still holds a special place in the singer's heart.
The third paragraph reveals a realization that Miranda meant more to the singer than just a childhood friend. It becomes evident that the feelings they had for each other went beyond friendship. The repetition of "Miranda Miranda" at the end of the stanza serves as a reminder of the significance she held in the singer's life.
In the final paragraph, the repetition of "Miranda Miranda" becomes more frequent, emphasizing the impact that Miranda had on the singer. The repetition also serves to intensify the emotions associated with their relationship. The song ends by reinforcing the notion that Miranda was more than just a childhood friend, leaving a lasting impression on the singer's life.
Overall, "Miranda" captures the bittersweet nostalgia of a childhood friendship that has left a lasting impact on the singer. It conveys the longing and fond memories associated with an important connection that gradually evolved beyond mere friendship.
