The lyrics of Teri Meri Yaari Badi Purani describe a deep and long-lasting friendship between two people. The song begins by repeating the phrase "Teri Meri, Meri Teri" which translates to "yours and mine, mine and yours", emphasizing the deep connection between the two friends. The singer then goes on to describe how the other person recognized her for who she was, and even now, after many changes and challenges, their friendship has endured. The singer notes how their love and friendship has lasted through many seasons and different phases of life, and they are still connected even though their appearance has changed.
The second stanza reflects how over time, external appearances can change and even though one person may look different, the deep bond between them remains unchanged. The song refers to a situation of unspoken love where they both missed the opportunity to express their feelings in the past, yet both seem resigned to their current situation. The song ends with the line "Teri Meri Yaari Badi Purani," reminding us that the friendship is the foundation of the song.
Overall, the lyrics of the song capture the essence of the deep and meaningful relationships that can endure through thick and thin. It speaks to the universal nature of inter-personal connections that transcend time and space and remain rooted in honesty and genuine affection.
