Their sound has been said to draw influence from the shoegazing movement of the late 1980s to early 1990s, which was coined to describe the textured and effects-heavy sound of alternative rock in that era.
Asobi Seksu released their eponymous debut album in 2004. The band regrouped with a new rhythm section for their second album, Citrus, which was recorded in Gigantic Studios, New York City with producer Chris Zane.
One Little Indian Records re-released the band's first album Asobi Seksu and the follow-up Citrus in 2006.
The band changed its name to Asobi Seksu from the previous name Sportfuck when they signed to their current label.
The band announced an indefinite hiatus on September 30, 2013, but hinted that they hope to create more music eventually.

Walk On the Moon

Things have never looked, looked like this
It's never been like this
I'm swimming in gray
I'm just swimming in gray
Let them all walk away, all walk away
So there's no one to blame
Let them all walk away, all walk away
I'll be left with the shame
You saw the photograph, an image of me
You'll never see me like this
It's never felt like this
I'm swimming in gray
I'm just swimming in gray
Let them all walk away, all walk away
So there's no one to blame
They all feel same
Let them all walk away, all walk away
I'll be left with the shame
The song "Walk on the Moon" by Asobi Seksu is a melancholy reflection on a fading relationship. The opening lines reveal the singer's sense of disorientation and detachment as they view a photograph of the person they once knew. The image is so transformative that it no longer feels like the same person, suggesting that the relationship has changed beyond recognition. The repeated refrain of "swimming in gray" further emphasizes the singer's sense of uncertainty and unease, hinting at a pervasive feeling of sadness and loss.

Tantos comentários antigos. Me pergunto se ainda tem gente que escuta essa banda. Tirando alguns conhecidos, acho que é a minoria. Essa música é sensacional!!
