Sellone
At Will Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

well you don't call, and you don't page
i never loved you (babe)
and you don't like the way i am

well you don't call, and you don't page
i never loved you (babe)
and you don't like the way i pray
see you on weekends
when i need to bathe
run your fingers through my locks, with lust
and you think you're i in i with Jah

don't call, don't page
i loved you anyways, even though you're out of range

well you don't call, and you don't page
and you don't like the one i'm with

Bob Marley on the radio, you said you fell in love with Jah
hang up the dial, Jah

you spit on the lamb
you spit on me
killing this lion
raised up to zion

Bob Marley on the radio and you said you fell in love with Jah

a lie, a lie

Bob Marley on the radio and you said you fell in love with Jah

arise.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to At Will's song Sellone seem to be about a failed relationship between the singer and the person they're addressing in the song. The person in question doesn't call or page the singer, doesn't like them for who they are, and doesn't approve of the way they pray. The only time they meet up is on weekends when the singer needs to bathe and the other person wants to run their fingers through their hair with lust. Somehow, this person seems to think that they're spiritually connected to Jah (which is the Rastafarian term for God), but the singer doesn't want anything to do with it.

The second verse describes the person's reaction to hearing Bob Marley's music on the radio. They profess their love for Jah but then hang up the dial when the singer mentions they're with someone else. The verse ends with the person spitting on "the lamb" (which could refer to Jesus) and killing "this lion" (which may relate to the singer's inner strength or personal power). The last line of the verse mentions being raised up to Zion, which is the Rastafarian concept of heaven or a spiritual state.

The chorus repeats the same lines about not calling or paging, and the singer confesses that they loved the person anyway, even though they were out of range. The song ends with the line "arise," which could be interpreted as a call to action or a reference to spiritual awakening.

Love the art style in this music video. The darkness fits the tone of the song very well.

I love this band! They were a local band from when I was in high school. I have both of their albums if you need them. Glad to see others know this band!

Alex Aro Dude I saw them at locobazooka too! I’m in Wakefield MA. I still have both of their CDs. They started a new group with same members minus the bassist called Sleep Alive. There’s a couple songs on YouTube.
