Etreintes
Aude Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Aude's song Etreintes speak of a person who used to hide behind their shyness, but has finally come out from behind that façade. It has been suggested that this person has finally realized that the answer to their problems, the "yes" they were looking for, was always within them. The metaphor of the "gazelle" bending down signifies a submission to this realization, a willingness to embrace it for both the best and the worst that may come from it.
At the same time, the song also speaks of the impermanence of things. The line "toutes ces fois qu'ils convolent" indicates that even the gods who were once united in love can eventually separate, with their love fading away like the passage of time. However, the singer also offers some hope in the final line, proclaiming that "sur les ailes du temps la tristesse s'envole" or "on the wings of time, sadness flies away." This could be interpreted as a message of acceptance and surrender to the natural turn of events in life.
