Y rota a pedacitos
The lyrics of Azúcar Moreno's song "Barquito de papel" tell a story of a person who is writing a letter to someone they love. They have heard that the recipient will use the letter to make a paper boat and let it drift away in the sea of their affection. The act of turning the letter into a boat symbolizes the sender's hope and vulnerability, as they are entrusting their heartfelt message to the currents of love. The lyrics convey a sense of anticipation and longing for the response that the sender eagerly awaits.
The repetition of the phrase "Con pluma y tintero" (With pen and inkwell) in each verse emphasizes the act of writing and the emotions behind it. It signifies the effort put into expressing love through words, while also highlighting the traditional method of communication through written letters. The references to the postman and the mailbox create a sense of urgency and dependency on the arrival of the letter, as the sender expresses their longing and fears of disappointment if the postman doesn't deliver the message.
The last verse introduces a twist in the story, as the lyrics suggest that the recipient might destroy the letter without even reading it. The image of turning the letter into a paper rose and then tearing it into pieces implies rejection and heartbreak. This adds a melancholic tone to the song, highlighting the unpredictability of love and the vulnerability that comes with expressing one's feelings.
Overall, "Barquito de papel" is a heartfelt song that explores themes of longing, vulnerability, and the uncertainties of love through the metaphor of a paper boat and a letter.
