When I was a kid, kids bullied the hell out of me, souly because the teachers refused to do anything. A kid once hit me right in front of a teacher, and i got in trouble for complaining about it. The problem with bullying isn't the bullies, it's the piece of shit people who become teachers for the 3 months payed vacation and don't give a fuck about children, and would simply ignore a child in distress because it's not a mendatory part of their job.

I wouldn't want any guidelines or rules to ever prevent me from doing what is right.. I wish we would have learned from each other.. I teach math science and English.. so it doesn't matter.. pick your favorite subject.. and you will start to get curious.. and then motivated.. then inspired.. and you will fall in love with that subject.. and find great purpose in life and then if any person should ever bully you.. oh you would have such self-respect and clarity and intelligence to stand up for yourself.. with the highest integrity.. and I would stand by proud of how you handled yourself.. but i mean of course if you stumbled a bit.. i'd have your back.. if you want great students.. you have to care about those students greatly..

I was bullied by kids & even teachers would mistreat me. Everybody took kindness for weakness so I started being bad. I got all the girls as a "bad guy" but then wasted my life with violence. Parental neglect also was a part of it. But the instinct to defend myself overwhelmed any sense of being good.

blows my mind that people will watch aziz's hour long specials in their entirety (and enjoy it enough to youtube him and watch all his interviews) and then completely turn against him for re-using jokes. Talk show apperances (for comedians or actors) is basically an advertisement for their work.

All talkshows involve some writing and pre-planning. Any non-comedian guest you see who you think is saying things on the spot, a majority of what they talk about has been pre-planned.

it's like watching a trailer for a movie and going "WTF THIS IS BASICALLY PARTS OF THE MOVIE TO GET YOU TO GO WATCH THE MOVIE"

In 7th grade this guy bullied me until I punched him in the face in the class room in front of everybody. The teacher told us to knock it off and he left me alone after that. Nobody really messed with me after that. If you're bullied, then just knock the shit out of them and they will probably leave you alone after that.

That might work sometimes, or you might end up getting your teeth knocked out and nose broken. When I got bullied and made fun of, I just smiled and laughed at them because I knew they were way dumber than I was. Eventually they thought I was laughing WITH them and thought I was pretty cool so they tried to be my friends. I hung out with them for a while because I didn't have many other friends and they were not all that bad, but after going to college I barely ever saw them again because I found some real friends. Bullies are usually stupid and have a hard time making friends, that's why their bullies.

I graduated high school a few years ago and I can tell you that the reason why today's students and teachers don't do anything when someone is being bullied is because if you decide to do something you are pretty much guaranteed to get in trouble. If you're a student you can get a referral or detention or suspension, and you could be arrested if you interfere to stop a fight (not kidding, I've seen it happen). If you're a teacher you can also get fired.

That's the problem, though. You can't tell a kid "Ah weel end Yeeeew!" anymore. You can't harm a kid in any way, physically or verbally. You can't stand up to your own bullies, because you get suspended. Even when I was growing up, teachers were toothless to deal with any bullying problem and it always came down to your word against theirs. Since most bullies are excellent manipulators, it's not hard for them to swing it back in their favour and get you even worse after school.

Truth. I was bullied by three kids during the fourth grade who once came and attacked my at my lunch table. I was the only one suspended for fighting, because they stuck to their story that I started the fight, and the other kids were too afraid or didn't care enough to back me up. I even got suspended for being involved in a fight where I didn't throw a single punch. I practically walked to the principles office with this belligerent girl riding my back, because the teacher wouldn't pull her off of me or stop the fight. I had been raised to never hit a girl, so I didn't. The principle finally pulled her off of me, and then suspended us both, her for hitting me and me for being so hittable.

Society has made it so difficult on teachers nowadays, they are too afraid of getting sued or being fired for crossing lines with kids that straight up need it. A teacher today could never say that and get away with it...but they should be able to.

Very similar incident I saw while travelling on a bus in Bangalore few years back. 4 older/stronger kids harassing a smaller built classmate who was desperately and unsuccessfully avoiding them. A very lean IT guy (his laptop bag and ID card around his neck gave it away) confronted the 4 bullies asking (speaking in mixture of English/Bengali) if they would like to have a "one-on-one" with him instead. Bullies left at the next stop.

I had a school councilor tell me (in the 5th grade) sometimes you gotta sock a bully in the nose and suffer the consequences. Bullies LOVE zero resistance. So I kicked the shit out my bully one day on the bus in front of his friends. Guess who didn't get bullied anymore. :)

"I will end you," is a death threat euphemism like, "you'll be sleeping with the fishes." So, Aziz's teacher bullied the bully by threatening the bully's life, and all the bully learned is that bullying is effective at behavior modification, but if you are going to bully, go big.

You know what? as a teacher I would LOVE to deal with bullies like Aziz's teacher did. But in this day and age, anything remotely like that means you will get sued, and lose your job, and not being able to teach in ANY public or private school ever. People would say is your job more important or the feelings of a kid. The reality is, teachers also need to pay rent/mortgage or make car payments or whatever. Things have gotten pretty messed up these days.

There's plenty of humorous co-hosts on TV. I've watched a lot of talk shows (not just US ones but some obscure european ones) and they all have the "funny host makes a joke, another guy in the band or next to him compliments that joke and makes it funnier". Andy was always on Conan's show since the beginning, so it made sense to bring him back after a long break. People really missed his character when he left.

My mom's a teacher and, in addition to what you said, the kids also have no fear of the adults. They don't listen to authoritative figures whatsoever and will even physically confront them. There's some huge 6 foot tall middleschoolers and I don't want them hitting my mom. I will end them!

A lot of rappers do this also. They'll freestyle on some radio show, and then the freestyle ends up being a song of their next album/mixtape. You guys have to realize this video has been out for 3 years. He did this joke a while before "Buried Alive" came out, and then added it to his show later.

My bullies, especially one on the football team, would spread how much I did drugs (not true) and how I'm an evil witch (half truth) and constantly egged me on to kill myself. Specifically handing. What did some of the teachers do? Joined in laughing. They did stuff during class also. Only had a few physical altercations in school, mostly from males. I can't imagine what some kids go through now.

That story of Aziz's about that childhood bully reminds me of the time a kid pulled his eyes at me and made pseudo-Chinese noises at me (I'm not even Chinese!) I don't know what my Southern fifth grade teacher said, but she definitely put the fear of God into him.

I was bullied heavily in high school by whole gangs of kids in front of many teachers and none of them ever said or did anything. I understand that they're not getting paid much and it's not their job to be bodyguards, but they could have at least said something, given a dirty look, had the worst offenders sent to the principal's office, etc. Nope, they couldn't care less, I could have been murdered and they wouldn't have batted an eye.

On bullying..... At the end of the day, it's a cold world out there and you learn how to warm it up for yourself by having good parents that teach you how to deal with life. Teachers can't be their students' parents. It's too much to take on. It's impossible, in fact. The greatest anti-bullying messages I've heard are not longings for a bullshit fantasy where bullying stops, but when children learn how to deal with it in a healthy way that leaves their sense of self intact. This comes from parenting, not public service announcements against bullying.

When you think about it, what do bullies feel when they're told that they are bullies? Do you think THAT feels good, or is that just adding to the problem you're trying to solve?

You know what's actually really interesting. The "school corporal punishment" laws in schools are really screwed up in some states in America. For example, what a teacher can do in a school legally, if a parent did at home they would be considered abuse. And places like Kenya, in a certain sense, better laws than those certain states, because paddling is illegal there.

never seen Aziz on Conan before, and yet I knew what he was going to say word-for-word the entire time. Can't he talk about these things and be funny without quoting himself? It's like he wasn't really there, they just used a hologram and then played prerecorded voice clips that went with Conan's questions.

I actually pulled this kid's collar and punched him thrice in the face in front of school staff and dozens of teachers because he bullied me everyday. After that day I never got bullied again even in HS.
