B.B. King Intro
B.B. King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In this grave hour
Perhaps the most fateful in our history
For the second time in the lives of most of us we are at war
Over and over again we have tried to find a peaceful way out of the Differences
Between ourselves and those who are now our enemies
It is unthinkable that we should refuse to meet the challenge

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to B.B. King's song "B.B. King Intro" are actually spoken words, rather than lyrics sung by B.B. King himself. The words are a snippet from a speech given by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill on September 3, 1939, at the outbreak of World War II. The speech is commonly known as the "War Speech," and it was delivered on the eve of Great Britain's declaration of war on Germany.

The lyrics reflect the gravity of the situation at hand, conveying the feeling of a somber and critical moment in history. Churchill emphasizes that this hour, though dark and grave, is perhaps one of the most significant in their history. He acknowledges that it is the second time in the lives of most people living that they are confronted with the reality of war. Despite efforts to find a peaceful resolution and bridge the differences between them and their enemies, it is now unthinkable to refuse the challenge and avoid the conflict.

These lyrics serve as an introduction to the song and set the tone for the message that follows. The speech itself is a powerful reminder of the struggle and sacrifices made during that time, and its inclusion in the song adds depth and historical context to B.B. King's music.

Best intro ever, works much better than some rockstars (yes I know he's blues) just running on and playing, true class.

I was lucky enough to have seen this band play three times. As BB King has got older they play a longer set at the beginning of the show that highlights their talents. They then do a great warm up and introduction for BB.

After the saxophonist, I was looking forward to seeing another wind solo, or the guitarist, but i didn't expect to see an organ solo, but when I realised what was happening, I was like "OH YEAH!".
