To date, Boo Seeka has accumulated over 7 million Spotify streams and dominated national airwaves with singles like ‘Oh My’, ‘Deception Bay’, ‘Fool’ and their 2015 debut single, ‘Kingdom Leader’, which peaked at #6 on the Australian iTunes Electronic chart. Boo also managed to reach #50 in Triple j’s 2015 Hottest 100 with ‘Deception Bay’ and snagged a J Award nomination for Unearthed Artist of the Year in 2015.
A combination of pulsating synth sounds that bed down layered textures of electronic bass and percussive beats. Influenced by the layerings and experimental beats of Major Lazer, the cool swagger of J-Dilla and The Seed 2.0’s Cody Chestnutt’s soulful vocal delivery. BOO SEEKA snaps up melodies and bounces them off hip-hop/R&B driven grooves and beats that vibe.
2015 saw Boo Seeka tour Australia nationally with Kim Churchill, Sticky Fingers and SAFIA. Supporting each band on their respective National Tours. Followed by 2 SOLD OUT Headline single tours of the east coast. They’ve supported the likes of DMA’s, Jarryd James, Kovacs in the EUand UKand have also showcased at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.
In 2016, they sold out their own national headline Oz tour and went back to EU and the UK for their own run of shows and festivals. After that was done, they came back home to play on home soil, just in time for summer festivals, including Groovin’ The Moo, Splendour In the Grass, Southbound and Party in the Paddock. Boo Seeka, being the hardest touring bands in Oz at the moment, also managing to squeeze in a 3 month long tour with Cherub and Frenship in October - November of 2016.
Boo Seeka continue to work on their first album - on and off the road. Working with producer and long time collaborator, Ian Pritchett (Bootleg Rascal & Lyall Moloney). Their most recent single, ‘Does This Last’, navigates through a bed of spacey synth and string layers. Building on their eclectic soul-tronic sounds. The single has been placed on high rotation on Triple J and have been featured on a few Spotify AU/NZ playlists (including 5 weeks on the Indie Mixtape playlist). It’s the first taste of their first album, due for release August 2017 (through Sureshaker & Warner Music Australia).
Does This Last
BOO SEEKA Lyrics

just a minute or two.
My mind an ocean,
weightless with you.
I seem to be spinning
in and out of time.
The waves of emotion
rolling into my life.
Meet me at the place where we can be our own creator.
...Stories ...Stories
Write a new chapter, doesn't need to be clean.
...Stories ...Stories
Releasing our minds from the cynical invader.
...Stories
Which way do I ride? With all rules pulled aside, I don't want to hide.
Why does this only last for so long?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
Why does this only last for so long?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
Been dreaming for a minute,
just a minute or two.
With total devotion,
weightless with you.
We seem to be spinning
in and out of time.
We have followed an ocean
fading over our light.
Meet me at the place where we can be our own creator.
...Why does this only last for so long?
Write a new chapter, doesn't need to be clean.
...Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
Releasing our minds from the cynic and the hater.
...Why does this only last for so long?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
... Why does this only last for so long?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
Why does this only last for so long?
Could I be wrong? Should I be asking myself while I'm high?
The lyrics to BOO SEEKA's song "Does This Last" speak to the fleeting nature of moments of euphoria and the desire to hold onto them. The singer is overwhelmed by their emotions, feeling as though they are "spinning in and out of time" and "weightless" with their partner. They acknowledge the temporary nature of this feeling, asking "why does this only last for so long?" and questioning whether they should be questioning their own perception ("could I be wrong? should I be asking myself while I'm high?"). The chorus repeats this sentiment, with the singer wondering whether their experience is real or just a passing illusion.
The lyrics also touch on the idea of creating one's own reality or story, free from societal expectations or limitations. The singer invites their partner to "meet me at the place where we can be our own creator" and encourages them to "write a new chapter" that doesn't need to be perfect. The use of the word "creator" suggests a belief in one's own power to shape their experiences and the world around them.

My 6 year old son has Autism Spectrum Disorder. He just loves this song. When it comes on Triple J he knows it from the first note and yells "turn it up!" When having a melt down or is incredibly anxious we play him this song and he calms down straight away. We will definitely be voting for this song in the hottest 100 and buying the album when it is released. Thank you for impacting our lives in a positive manner :)
