A combination of pulsating synth sounds that bed down layered textures of electronic bass and percussive beats. Influenced by the layerings and experimental beats of Major Lazer, the cool swagger of J-Dilla and The Seed 2.0βs Cody Chestnuttβs soulful vocal delivery. BOO SEEKA snaps up melodies and bounces them off hip-hop/R&B driven grooves and beats that vibe.
2015 saw Boo Seeka tour Australia nationally with Kim Churchill, Sticky Fingers and SAFIA. Supporting each band on their respective National Tours. Followed by 2 SOLD OUT Headline single tours of the east coast. Theyβve supported the likes of DMAβs, Jarryd James, Kovacs in the EUand UKand have also showcased at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.
In 2016, they sold out their own national headline Oz tour and went back to EU and the UK for their own run of shows and festivals. After that was done, they came back home to play on home soil, just in time for summer festivals, including Groovinβ The Moo, Splendour In the Grass, Southbound and Party in the Paddock. Boo Seeka, being the hardest touring bands in Oz at the moment, also managing to squeeze in a 3 month long tour with Cherub and Frenship in October - November of 2016.
Boo Seeka continue to work on their first album - on and off the road. Working with producer and long time collaborator, Ian Pritchett (Bootleg Rascal & Lyall Moloney). Their most recent single, βDoes This Lastβ, navigates through a bed of spacey synth and string layers. Building on their eclectic soul-tronic sounds. The single has been placed on high rotation on Triple J and have been featured on a few Spotify AU/NZ playlists (including 5 weeks on the Indie Mixtape playlist). Itβs the first taste of their first album, due for release August 2017 (through Sureshaker & Warner Music Australia).

Couldnβ²t take much Longer
I Think iam finally bound
Don't mean iam slipping
Slipping Round & Around
This Rythmβ²s out of order
Fear has finally Won
I always... be thinkin bout you
Lalala Laying in my arms
Said that Iam always... thinking bout you
Lala... Laying (in my ArmsΓ2)
We say we could be stronger
Said this could be found around
Our Fears are turning Us
The lyrics of Boo Seeka's song Turn Up Your Light depict a sense of emotional distress and internal conflict that the singer is going through. The opening line of "Couldn't take much longer" indicates the singer's desperation and exhaustion. They feel like they have been struggling with something for too long and are about to break down. They express that they think they are finally bound, which could mean that they are accepting their fate or surrendering to it. However, they quickly clarify that this doesn't mean they are slipping, although they feel like they are slipping around and around in circles.
The second verse continues with the theme of disorder and fear. The singer admits that the rhythm is out of order and fear has finally won. Yet, they retain a glimmer of hope that they will get back to where they were. In the chorus, the singer confesses that they are always thinking about this person, perhaps a lover or a friend, who is laying in their arms. They express the desire to be stronger and find a way to overcome their fears that are turning them.
Overall, the song depicts a sense of vulnerability, struggle, and hope. The singer is experiencing inner turmoil but also looking for a way to move forward and find strength.
