The band began as a ska group but quickly transcended the genre, mixing punk, reggae, rock, swing and jazz influences. They sing in both French and English, sometimes mixing the two in songs. Their third album, Dances of Resistance, was recorded in 2003 and largely has an anti-war theme. In 2009 they launched their latest album La Belle Étoile. Since then they are still on tour all over the world, from their own country France to other countries in Europe, but also to foreign places like Abu Dhabi and New Zealand.

Nuit de printemps
Babylon Circus Lyrics

Serrés au cœur de la foule
J'ai bien vu je n’ai pas rêvé
Son sourire
Sa main qui s'enroule
Juste une nuit de printemps
Pour la revoir danser
J'ai bien vu je n’ai pas rêvé
Le soir en toute innocence
Et l'amour barricadé
Va savoir
Si j'avais ma chance
Juste une nuit de printemps
Pour la revoir danser
J'ai bien vu je me suis pincé
D'un ange qui voulait s'ouvrir
J'ai bien vu je suis tombé
À genou
Je voulais lui dire
Mais
tout va trop vite
Tout va trop vite
Juste une nuit de printemps
Pour la revoir danser
In Babylon Circus's song "Nuit de printemps," the singer expresses his desire to have just one night in the spring to see the woman he loves dance again. The first verse describes a moment where he saw her smiling and her hand wrapped around someone, most likely her partner while they were in the midst of the crowd. The singer, however, does not think it was just a dream as he remembers it so vividly.
The second verse is a continuation of the earlier scene, but this time, the singer recalls seeing her in total innocence in the evening, but with love barricaded. The singer seems to have the feeling of hope that he might have a chance with her. This time, he gets emotional and falls to his knees, wanting to tell her how he feels, but everything was too fast, and he didn't get the chance.
In the end, the chorus repeats the plea, "Just one night in spring, to see her dance once again." This song conveys the feeling of missed chances, being in love with someone but not being able to tell them how you feel. It speaks to the yearning for connection and the fleeting nature of time.
