"" Formed in 1992 and comprised of members Scott Angelacos (vocals), Matt Easley (guitar), Art Legre (bass), and John Stewart Jr. (drums), Bloodlet specializes in a form of hardcore that's even more angst ridden and brutal than most of their counterparts. Issuing several singles straight away, Bloodlet signed on with the renowned hardcore label Victory not long after their formation, resulting in a trio of releases during the mid to late ‘90s -- 1995's Eclectic (a compilation of their aforementioned early singles), 1996's Entheogen, and 1998's Seraphim Fall, before splitting up. Little was heard from Bloodlet's former members, as most dispersed to other locales. But during their retirement, several up and coming hardcore groups began name checking Bloodlet as an important influence (especially Eighteen Visions, among others), and by late 2001, Bloodlet had reunited and was rehearsing once more. Hooking up with renowned indie producer Steve Albini, Bloodlet issued their fourth release overall in 2002, the hard hitting Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Trees -- picking up exactly where they'd left off several years earlier.

Eucharist
Bloodlet Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song Eucharist by Bloodlet has very intense and evocative lyrics that depict the suffering and pain of the human experience. The first line, "Oh the spirits cries sweet music set to the beat of a tormented heart" suggests that there is some sort of connection between pain and music. The tormented heart could represent the intense emotions that can be felt during times of great suffering, and how that pain can lead to beautiful, soulful music. The reference to Jesus weeping and the soul dying also shows how much suffering is an integral part of the human experience, as it is something that even the son of God experienced.
The next line, "it makes me know I'm alive," highlights how pain can be a reminder of our existence and our humanity. Even though pain can be unbearable at times, it shows that our emotions are real and valid. The following lines about sharing in the misery of a thousand tortured minds and screaming for the suffering of life show how interconnected we all are in our suffering. The singer of the song passionately embraces their twisted emotions and sees them as a sign of life and existence. The final line, "hear me bellow amen," suggests a type of acceptance or surrender to the suffering, as well as a possible religious connotation.
