On January, 22nd 2007, bandleader Jochen Distelmeyer announced the decision to split the band (in peace) after their final 2007 tour.
The name of the band was coined by the main character of the short story "Blumfeld, ein älterer Junggeselle" ("Blumfeld, an elderly Bachelor") by Franz Kafka.
In 2014 the original line-up reunited for a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversity of the release of their album L'etat et moi. It's announced that they will split again after that tour in 2014.

The opening lines of the song "Ein Auge sieht den Himmel offen" initially paint a picture of a beautiful blue sky, but this quickly becomes a metaphor for something that is promised, but never quite attained. The wind picks up and the clouds turn grey, casting doubt and fear on what was once a hopeful prospect.
