During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

Baby, but you just won't let me
You know that I love you
Baby, but you just won't let me
Every morning I get up, I sip my cup
My eyes get red, no one to hear me
One more thing I'd like to say right here
Baby, but you just won't let me
Baby, but you just won't let me
I'd like to say, baby, you so nice
I'd like to do the same thing twice, yeah!
Baby, you so nice
I'd like to do the same thing twice
I love you so much, so
Love you, love you, baby, so much
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I live in the woods alone
I need your company
Baby! Woods alone!
I need your company, yeah!
Every morning I get up, I sip my cup
My eyes get red, no one to hear me
One more thing I'd like to say right here
Baby, but you just won't let me, yeah!
One more thing I'd like to say right here
Baby, but you just won't let me
I'd like to say, baby, you so nice
Do the same thing twice, yeah!
Baby, you so nice
I'd like to do the same thing twice
I love you, baby, so much
In Bob Marley & The Wailers's song Do It Twice, the singer expresses his love for someone who seems to not reciprocate his affection. He repeatedly tells the person that he loves them, but they just won't let him love them. The singer longs for this person's company and love, as he feels alone and unacknowledged in his solitude. He mentions how every morning he wakes up and sips on his cup, yet his eyes get red with no one to hear him.
The singer goes on to say that he wants to do the same thing twice with this person because they are so nice. This implies that he wants to experience the love and connection he feels with them over and over again. The repetition in the chorus further emphasizes this desire. The last line emphasizes his love for this person, as he repeats "I love you, baby, so much".
Overall, the song portrays a longing for love and connection with someone who seems to not want the same thing. It emphasizes the importance of reciprocation in any relationship and how one-sided love can leave someone feeling empty and alone.
