Their adventure starts with a rather classical approach: arranging playlists fed with music they like. They gradually added what would become their trademark: the grain of a personality's voice on mixed music. Their format is declined during 5 years, 40 mixtapes, more than 70 million listening. A quality signature. Bon Entendeur has this desire to talk about culture in its original version. This sense of aestheticism, of appropriateness. And of the stage. Behind the turntables, they mix their tributes and move the packed halls on a very fine sound. They also have the audacity to never run out of ideas, and in 2015 they offered their first revisit of a song from the 70s, Le temps est bon. A success.
Their album Aller-Retour concentrates their DNA: it is composed of revisited songs from the 60s and 70s and original productions mixed with interviews. All elegantly arranged in 14 tracks. Bon Entendeur creates sounds that are new, that go back and forth with their inventive digital generation and the immense heritage of their predecessors.
La Rua Madueira
Bon Entendeur Lyrics

Ton nom mal écrit parmi tant d'autres noms inconnus
The lyrics to "La Rua Madureira" by Bon Entendeur are a nostalgic recollection of a past love and the memories associated with it. The song serves as a tribute to the beauty and vitality of Brazil, particularly Rio de Janeiro, and the way it captured the singer's heart. The first verse reminisces about the vivid colors of the skyline and the famous Corcovado mountain, with its statue of Christ the Redeemer visible from miles away. The second verse reflects on the day the singer met their lover, and how they walked through the rain discussing their respective passions - the singer's being love, while the lover talked about their homeland of Brazil.
The third verse recounts the moment when the singer had to say goodbye as their lover departed on a plane, and the tender moment when the lover smiled back at the singer before boarding, a melancholy of bittersweet memories. The final verse tells of how the singer discovered their lover's name in a newspaper, misspelled among a litany of unfamiliar names, and felt the pang of longing once more. The chorus ties it all together, repeating the opening verse to cement the place and time in the singer's memory.
Overall, "La Rua Madureira" is a love letter to nostalgia, to the memory of people and places that stay with us long after they've left our lives. It's a wistful, romantic tune that speaks to the power of memory and how we're often left wanting more, long after our chance encounters with beauty have come and gone.
