Love
Buika Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Taste like love
And smell like love
But they are not love
Sometimes it looks
So sweet and tender
But it's not love
Like it's the real one
But it's not love
When the night is cold and lonely
I know baby it's hard
But in the middle of the darkness
Love will be our guide
Mi cuerpo será tu guía
En medio de la noche
Tu cuerpo sera mi luz
En esta oscuridad tan nuestra
So take my hand
Let's fly Hawai from here
Vámonos volando, volando, volando
Somewhere
You can show me
Vámonos muy lejos pa que
Pueda verte bien
Play your name on my skin and
I'll make you feel somehow
Ay amor
That in the middle of the darkness
Love will be our guide
Oh baby it's all right
My pecho sera una cuna
Pa que te duermas
Tus besos serán mi aliento
En esta habitación tan muerta
Ay, que yo no quiero despestar, amor
No quiero que amanezca que no
Ay, abrázame fuerte
Háblame de ti
Talk to me
Que el alba está llamando
A la ventana, amor
Y yo no quiero abrir
Dame más
That's the way I love.
The lyrics to Buika's song "Love" reflect on the ever-elusive idea of love and how it can be difficult to discern between true love and imitations of it. The opening lines suggest that many things can taste and smell like love, but they are not love. This could refer to the many ways individuals can be deceived into thinking they are experiencing love, when in fact, it is not the real thing. It is only when one is able to recognize and experience the true essence of love that they begin to understand its power and significance.
The second stanza speaks to how love can be deceiving. It can appear to be sweet and tender, but this sweetness can be a facade. It can also appear to be the real thing, but one can easily be fooled. The lyrics then shift to a more hopeful and reassuring tone, with the singer urging their partner not to fear the darkness, as love will be their guide. The final lines of the stanza suggest that their bodies will be each other's source of light and guidance through the darkness.
In the chorus, Buika urges her partner to take her hand, and together they will fly away to a place where love can be truly expressed and experienced. She repeats the phrase "vámonos volando," which translates to "let's fly away," emphasising the urge to escape and leave behind what is holding them back. The singer also mentions wanting to see her partner clearly and feel their name on her skin, suggesting a deep longing for connection and intimacy.
In the third stanza, the singer offers her body as a safe space for her partner to rest and feel comforted. She mentions that his kisses are her breath, again emphasising the deep connection between two people in love. The final lines suggest a fear of the dawn, as it would signal the end of their time together. The singer asks to be held tightly and for her partner to talk to her, wanting to hold onto their love for as long as possible.
Overall, the lyrics of Buika's "Love" speak to the complexities of love, the difficulty of distinguishing true love from imitations, and the deep connection between two people in love.
