Staring at the Sun
CHROM Lyrics

Were the things you told me
And I almost disappeared
But you came to save me
Now you left me incomplete
And I′m searching for you
Another dawn is breaking through
And hope that you will come
I′m staring at the sun
Everything I used to know
Were the things you told me
And I almost disappeared
But you came to save me
I can see you in my dreams
I don't wanna wake up
Another dawn is breaking through
I'm staring at the sun
And hope that you will come
I′m walking all alone
And try to find my home
I′m staring at the sun
I'm staring at the sun
And hope that you will come
I′m walking all alone
And try to find my home
I'm staring at the sun
And hope that you will come
I′m walking all alone
And try to find my home
I'm staring at the sun
The lyrics to the song "Staring at the Sun" by CHROM depict a sense of longing and loss intertwined with hope and perseverance. The singer reflects on a past where their knowledge and sense of self were shaped by another person. They admit to nearly losing themselves until this person intervened and saved them from that fate. This individual, however, has now left, leaving the singer feeling incomplete and on a quest to find them once again.
The repeated mention of "staring at the sun" can be interpreted both literally and symbolically. Literally, staring at the sun is a powerful image that evokes a sense of searching for something elusive and all-encompassing. Symbolically, it can represent the intensity of longing and yearning for the return of the person who once saved them and brought light into their life. The act of staring at the sun could also imply a willingness to endure hardship and discomfort in the pursuit of this connection.
The singer confesses to seeing this person in their dreams, not wanting to wake up from this fleeting moment of reunion. The dreams serve as a sanctuary where the memories and presence of this individual remain vivid and comforting. The mention of a new dawn breaking through symbolizes the idea of hope and new beginnings despite the current feelings of loss and loneliness.
As the singer walks alone, trying to find their way back to a place of belonging and security, the repetition of the chorus emphasizes the sense of yearning and determination to reunite with the person who once brought them salvation. The ongoing search for "home" can be interpreted as the quest for emotional fulfillment and a sense of completion that only this person can provide. Overall, the lyrics of the song convey a complex emotional landscape of love, loss, and the enduring hope for reconciliation and healing.
