King's major success began in the 1960s when she and her first husband, Gerry Goffin, wrote more than two dozen chart hits, many of which have become standards, for numerous artists. She has continued writing for other artists since then. King's success as a performer in her own right did not come until the 1970s, when she sang her own songs, accompanying herself on the piano, in a series of albums and concerts. After experiencing commercial disappointment with her debut album Writer, King scored her breakthrough with the album Tapestry, which topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.
King has made 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Her record sales were estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honored. She is also a 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree.

And you need some lovin' care
And nothin', nothin' is goin' right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
You just call out my name
I'll come runnin'
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knockin' at your door
You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I'll come runnin', runnin', yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes, I will
Now, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend
When people can be so cold?
They'll hurt you, yes, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
You just call out my name
And you know, wherever I am
I'll come runnin', runnin', yeah, yeah
To see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yes, I will
You've got a friend
You've got a friend
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend
Ain't it good to know, ain't it good to know
Ain't it good to know
You've got a friend
Oh, yeah, now, you've got a friend
Yeah baby, you've got a friend
Oh, yeah, you've got a friend
"7- You've Got A Friend" is a song written by Carole King, released in 1971, which has become one of the most famous classic songs of all times. The song's lyrics speak to the idea of friendship, offering a comforting message in times of distress. In the song, King sings about the notion of being there for someone when they need companionship and support. The song is known for its simple yet powerful melody, and it is often used as a source of inspiration when people need encouragement.
The first verse of the song indicates someone who is feeling down and in need of a friend to turn to when everything seems to have gone wrong. The second verse talks about the idea of being there for someone even in the darkest moments when everything seems bleak. The chorus emphasizes the message of the song: offering the comfort that he or she has someone to turn to, regardless of the time of the year or the situation they are going through.
The lyrics of the song are straightforward and uncomplicated, but that's what makes "You've Got A Friend" unique. It's a message of hope that everyone needs to hear at some point. It's a reminder that, even in the darkest times of life, there is someone out there who cares and is willing to help. Thanks to its simplicity and relatability, this song has become an anthem of hope, urging people to be there for each other and find comfort in one another's company.
