The song "Fatalidade" by Cesaria Evora is a message of hope and resilience. The lyrics tell us that fate can bring us difficulties, but it's not the end of the world. If we don't give up and keep working, fighting, and singing, we can overcome them. Cesaria's powerful voice combined with the melancholic sound of the guitar creates an emotional atmosphere that conveys the message of the song impressively.
The first stanza starts with Fatalidade (fate) repeated twice, which sets the tone for the whole song. Then, it says that even if you are not born unlucky and facing hardship or even death, everything is predetermined by fate. The lyrics say that we are all marked by destiny in this journey called life. However, the second stanza highlights the value of friendship and love as weapons against adversity. Cesaria tells us that even if we face disappointment and sorrow, there is still room for happiness and joy. The final part of the song repeats the second and third stanzas, emphasizing the idea of not giving up and that good days will come, so to keep pushing forward.
Overall, "Fatalidade" is a beautiful and touching song that delivers a meaningful message in a simple and straightforward way. Cesaria's voice, the melancholic guitar, and the powerful message make this song a true masterpiece.

The first time I heard this wonderful voice I fell in love with cesaria evora musics. It's like I used to hear these songs from my past life before I came into this world. Even though I don't understand a thing. This belongs in heaven.

Ever since my first time in Cape Verde, I've been captivated by the islands and have been back every year since 4 yrs now. But nothing has cemented my love for the island and is people like the music from cesaria. Lyricists and artists like her are so rare.
