Everything
Chris Tomlin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
With much, with less
With joy, with pain
With life, with death
The only things that satisfy come from You
They come from You
Everything that's wonderful
Every perfect gift comes from You
Your grace, Your heart
Your voice, Your touch
Your word, Your peace
Your hope, Your love
A thousand words could not explain
A thousand worlds could not contain
Every perfect gift comes from You
It comes from the Father of Lights
It comes from the Giver of Life
It comes from the Heavens above
It's coming straight from Your heart
To the people You love
The lyrics of Chris Tomlin's "Everything That's Beautiful" express gratitude towards God for every perfect gift in life. The song highlights the duality of life's experiences, such as rain and sun, much and less, joy and pain, life and death. Despite these opposing forces, the lyrics acknowledge that the only things that can truly satisfy our souls come from God.
The song emphasizes the beauty that God continually gives to us through His grace, heart, voice, touch, word, peace, hope, and love. Although a thousand words or even worlds could not fully explain or express the perfection of these gifts, they all come from the ultimate Creator, the Father of Lights and the Giver of Life. The song also reminds the listeners that these gifts come straight from God's heart to the people He loves.
Overall, "Everything That's Beautiful" is a testament to God's goodness and kindness towards His people. It is a reminder not to take for granted the beauty that surrounds us in life and to be grateful to the ultimate Giver of all gifts.
