Wonderful Maker
Chris Tomlin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Said, "Let there be light"
Into a dark and formless world Your light was born
You spread out Your arms over empty hearts
Said, "Let there be light"
Into a dark and hopeless world Your Son was born
You sent Your only Son for You are good
What a wonderful Maker
What a wonderful Savior
How majestic Your whispers
And how humble Your love
With a strength like no other
And the heart of a Father
How majestic Your whispers
What a wonderful God
No eye has fully seen, how beautiful the cross
And we have only heard
The faintest whispers of how great You are
You made the world and saw that it was good
You sent Your only Son for You are good
What a wonderful Maker
What a wonderful Savior
How majestic Your whispers
And how humble Your love
With a strength like no other
And the heart of a Father
How majestic Your whispers
What a wonderful God
You made the world and saw that it was good
You sent Your only Son for You are good
What a wonderful Maker
What a wonderful Savior
How majestic Your whispers
And how humble Your love
With a strength like no other
And the heart of a Father
How majestic Your whispers
What a wonderful God
How majestic Your whispers
What a wonderful God
The lyrics to Chris Tomlin’s “Wonderful Maker” celebrate the majesty and goodness of God, referring specifically to His creation of the world and the sacrifice of His Son. The first verse emphasizes God’s power by invoking the image of Him spreading out the skies over the void of empty space and calling forth light from darkness. The second verse shifts to a more personal tone, with the singer acknowledging that God’s power is not just external but also extends into human hearts. This is represented by the birth of Jesus, which brought light into a dark and hopeless world.
The chorus praises God’s attributes of strength and humility, describing Him as a wonderful Maker and Savior. The bridge of the song focuses on the significance of Jesus’ death on the cross and the incomprehensible greatness of God.
Overall, the lyrics to “Wonderful Maker” are a beautiful expression of worship that highlight God’s creative power, His loving and personal nature, and the enormity of His sacrifice for humanity.
