Back In The U.S.A.
Chuck Berry Lyrics

Oh well, oh well, I feel so good today
We touched ground on an international runway
Jet propelled back home, from over the seas to the U.S.A.

New York, Los Angeles, oh, how I yearned for you
Detroit, Chicago, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge
Let alone just to be at my home back in ol' St. Lou

Did I miss the skyscrapers, did I miss the long freeway?
From the coast of California to the shores of Delaware Bay
You can bet your life I did, till I got back to the U.S.A.

Looking hard for a drive in, searching for a corner cafe
Where hamburgers sizzle on an open grill night and day
Yeah, and a jukebox jumping with records like in the U.S.A.

Well, I'm so glad I'm livin' in the U.S.A.
Yes, I'm so glad I'm livin' in the U.S.A.
Anything you want, we got right here in the U.S.A.

actually back in the ussr was a musical parody mixing berry and the beach boys influences into a single song. back in ussr was the first song i ever heard off of the first album i ever owned. and to this day, its one of my favorite songs on the best r&r album ever produced.
as for chuck, he was pure teenage AMERICANA set to music. the best covers i've ever heard are chuck berry songs. his use of american landmarks and city names in his lyrics is what made r&r into a musical celebration of america itself.
my favorite berry lyric? there's several but i guess my absolute favorite is - "i met a german girl in england who was going to school in france. we did the mississipi at a appa-kappa dance." my, you just can't beat a master wordsmith like CHUCK BERRY!

B in USSR was more of a Beachboy ripoff.

@harry pag I have and I do, but I assume you are talking about their pop days. Have you heart anything after 1965 with them?

I have a strong admiration for black artists from back in the day. They still managed to shine in such a hostile environment. Shows true greatness and perfection

ain't that the truth! and they never resorted to using racial slurs and misogynistic lyrics in their songs. i swear, the gutter level of today's "music" is an absolute disgrace. the sign of a failing culture.

Now I can see where the Beatles Back in the USSR came from.
