Their self-titled 1995 début has been followed by two more studio albums. Each has introduced fresh new sounds and styling, something that has successfully kept them from being pigeon-holed in one genre.
Victoria Lloyd provides consistently powerful, but gentle and ethereal vocals, and haunting and enigmatic lyrics, Ben Fargen's clean and bright guitars, and Chris Ross's lush keyboards all give the band their own distinct and unique style. They are currently signed to Metropolis Records, and released their long-awaited fourth album, Lustre, in September of 2009.
The band seems to be on hiatus since July 2010.
Instinct
Claire Voyant Lyrics

Reaches insanity
Hand over eyelids and free
I wear this heart of Hearts
In between the clutches of my arms
Air
Oh, air is life
There is more to this divine slave
I have called and now it's all I can take
I know without listening
These levitating highs--
You're never free
This is more than just your instinct
This is caging all the silence I can breathe
The Air
Oh, air is life
It casts a thousand stones in my eyes
This is our time
It's never sane
I can hold you now
I fear you're not too brave
Air, air is life
The song "Instinct" by Claire Voyant is a beautiful exploration of the human mind and emotions. The opening lines of the song, "Hand over mind / Reaches insanity / Hand over eyelids and free" describe the struggle of controlling one's thoughts and emotions. The singer is suggesting that they are losing control of their mind and need to let go of their consciousness for a moment in order to regain some sense of control. The lines "I wear this heart of Hearts / In between the clutches of my arms" suggest a feeling of vulnerability and a need for protection. The singer is holding onto their heart, afraid that someone may take it away from them.
The song takes an interesting turn when the singer begins to describe the importance of air. The lines "Air / Oh, air is life / It casts a thousand stars in my eyes" suggest that the singer finds great solace in breathing and the oxygen that sustains them. The repetition of the words "This is more than just your instinct" highlights the sense of urgency that the singer feels. They are trying to convey the importance of breathing and holding onto life with both hands. The final lines "I can hold you now / I fear you're not too brave" further emphasize the vulnerability and desperation that the singer feels.
Overall, "Instinct" is a deeply emotional and philosophical song that delves into the nature of the human mind and emotions. It explores themes of vulnerability, protection, and the importance of breathing and holding onto life.
