Their self-titled 1995 début has been followed by two more studio albums. Each has introduced fresh new sounds and styling, something that has successfully kept them from being pigeon-holed in one genre.
Victoria Lloyd provides consistently powerful, but gentle and ethereal vocals, and haunting and enigmatic lyrics, Ben Fargen's clean and bright guitars, and Chris Ross's lush keyboards all give the band their own distinct and unique style. They are currently signed to Metropolis Records, and released their long-awaited fourth album, Lustre, in September of 2009.
The band seems to be on hiatus since July 2010.
Love the Giver
Claire Voyant Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
it's as well its what you don't see
So plain you're impatient now I wait in your eyes
It's in the way that your love is forgiving
Ageless your time won't come
you're as beautiful as the sun
Tables they turn so slow
It's in the way that love is forsaken
now you see the profit
how do you regret?
"Bring your mortar back I want to seal the eyes, the lines, and cracks
tell me I'm not loved
I love the giver of my soul"
It's in the way that love is forsaken you've seen the progress now do you regress?
It's in the way that your love is forbidden you've seen this progress
If I blame, its not my fault
It's on the outside.

The song Love the Giver by Claire Voyant is a beautiful and poignant reflection on love that is both forgiving and forsaken. The opening lines describe a twilight symphony that is both seen and unseen, and the singer waits patiently in the beloved's eyes. The next lines describe the agelessness of love that is as beautiful as the sun, but tables turn slowly, and what was once beautiful can burn. The refrain explains that it's in the way that love is forsaken that you see the progress of the relationship, and now that you've seen the progress, do you regress? The bridge brings a plea for the beloved to bring their mortar back to seal the eyes, lines, and cracks, and to tell the singer that they are not loved. However, the singer loves the giver of their soul.
The narrative structure of the lyrics is understated yet emotional. The song is an exploration of love that is both fleeting and continuous. The opening lines set the stage with a metaphor of twilight symphony where the beauty lies in what you don't see. The idea of beauty lying in what you don't see is a recurring motif that runs throughout the song. The singer's patience as they wait in the beloved's eyes, suggests a willingness to see beyond the surface and delve deeper into the complexities of the relationship. The refrain suggests that love is both progress and regress, and it's in the way that it's forsaken that we see both. The plea for the beloved to bring their mortar back to seal the eyes, lines, and cracks, is a powerful metaphor for love's attempt to hold everything together, even when it feels like it's falling apart.

I watched a trio of Branch 9 K's scatter the waves of Teladi, a race not really known for their generosity, Eventually, ultimately, the machines fell to the lizards. when the wrecks of the K's had been cleaned, a new gift was apparent, an M sized assault craft, I decided on the Name; "Love the Giver", now, my gift, to fuck some more shit up. X4 style.
