Ek Loop Die Pad
Coenie De Villiers Lyrics

So kaalvoet deur die kou van
Doeriekant se doringveld
Kyk hoe lyk ek nou
En ek loop die pad so sonder hoed
Deur son en wind en grou
So kaalvoet op die slingerpad
My lam, die gras is soms so groen
Die son is soms so lou
Maar ek loop hierdie pad alleen my lam
En kyk hoe lyk ek nou
Onthou jy nog hoe ons kon loop?
So loslyf en verspot
So vlieg vlieg oor die koppies heen
'n Ragab en 'n Lot
Maar nou loop ek alleen, my lam
So kaalvoet deur die kou
En soms, net soms, dan wonder ek
My lam, waar is jy nou?
Maar nou loop ek alleen, my lam
So kaalvoet deur die kou
Mmm en soms, net soms, dan wonder ek
My lam, waar is jy nou?
The lyrics to Coenie De Villiers's song "Ek Loop Die Pad" describe a journey of the singer, who has been walking along a path for a long time, barefoot through the cold of the thorny veld of Doeriekant. The singer reflects on how they look and how their journey has been arduous. They continue walking the path, sometimes under the heat of the sun and sometimes in wind and rain. They remember how they used to walk with someone else, carefree and full of adventure, but now they walk alone, which makes them wonder where their companion is. The grass and the sun are beautiful along the way, but the singer feels the loneliness of the journey.
The song reflects the idea of life's journey and how some parts of it can be beautiful while others can be tough, but we must continue walking. The singer is walking on this journey with bare feet to symbolize vulnerability and openness to experience. The thorny veld of Doeriekant represents the struggle that the singer is facing in life. The missing companion symbolizes the longing for a loved one to accompany them.
Overall, "Ek Loop Die Pad" conveys how life can be difficult at times, but it's important to keep moving forward despite the hardships. The beauty and struggle of the journey are part of our growth, and we must learn to appreciate them.

Ek loop die pad al lank, my lam
I've been walking this road for a long time, my dear
So kaalvoet deur die kou van
Walking barefoot through the cold of
Doeriekant se doringveld
Thorny bushes on the side of the road
Kyk hoe lyk ek nou
Look at me now
En ek loop die pad so sonder hoed
And I walk this road without a hat
Deur son en wind en grou
Through sun, wind, and dust
So kaalvoet op die slingerpad
Walking barefoot on the winding road
En kyk hoe lyk ek nou
And look at me now
My lam, die gras is soms so groen
My dear, the grass is sometimes so green
Die son is soms so lou
The sun is sometimes so faint
Maar ek loop hierdie pad alleen my lam
But I walk this road alone my dear
En kyk hoe lyk ek nou
And look at me now
Onthou jy nog hoe ons kon loop?
Do you remember how we used to walk?
So loslyf en verspot
So carefree and playful
So vlieg vlieg oor die koppies heen
Flying over the hills
'n Ragab en 'n Lot
A rascal and a clown
Maar nou loop ek alleen, my lam
But now I walk alone, my dear
So kaalvoet deur die kou
Walking barefoot through the cold
En soms, net soms, dan wonder ek
And sometimes, just sometimes, I wonder
My lam, waar is jy nou?
My dear, where are you now?
Maar nou loop ek alleen, my lam
But now I walk alone, my dear
So kaalvoet deur die kou
Walking barefoot through the cold
Mmm en soms, net soms, dan wonder ek
Mmm and sometimes, just sometimes, I wonder
My lam, waar is jy nou?
My dear, where are you now?
