When his voice slightly cracks when he sings with "with you" is one of those beautifully perfect moments in a song. So real. it is the idiosyncrasies that make something unique. We used to allow those to exist. Even early on in the existence of autotune they were not hammered out regularly. Not until the public got used to hearing "naw, it's a bit pitchy for me, dawg" and such crap on Idol type competition shows did it really get hammered out of everything and the public really start focusing in on every little warble etc. It's the doom of vocals with feeling, this quest for "perfection."

They may not get recognized for it, but they've permenately changed the music industry. Always loved The Cure. Love his songs, his styles, and read somewhere recently that this singer is also a very generous kind hearted individual. I should add that I had a close friend of mine back in late 2019 who passed away with whom her and I could relate and understand each other about many of things having very similar life experiences. I dedicate this song to this close friend of mine. Her last words just before she passed was "I love you."

I love this song cause lyrics are so beautiful. Me and wife were together since we were young and just beautiful our 40th anniversary together she past away. This song is for the woman i will always love. The first song i burned on a cd for her over and over again. Been together for over 10yrs, finally had a baby together last yr then separated. Robert actually recorded a rough take of this song onto a cassette tape and gave it to Mary on their wedding day. The album and video would come out a year later.

If 1976 was your birth year, that was mine too. I bought this when it came out also. But remember caterpillar's video first. But this is my favorite album by the cure. Funny thing is when this album came out, Imostly listened to metal, punk and hardcore. Next to deadcandance, I loved going to sleep to this album.

This reminds of my long ago good friend from Junior high - she was crazy for The Cure and especially for Robert Smith. We used to listen to em in her room after school. We would just sit quietly and get all absorbed in the songs and lyrics - really listening from the heart. I was deeply mesmerized with their music/ poetry... I had some really cool friends back in the day that were deep, intelligent and funny. Good people - I hope they are doing well - i really wish them happiness. Life has some tuff bumps in the road ... especially for sensitive peeps like i used to know.
