It began in 2001 as the project for Dan Whitford. In 2003, Whitford recruited a band, and in 2005 toured internationally for the first time, visiting London, New York and Los Angeles. They have played with international acts Franz Ferdinand, TV on the Radio, Pretty Girls Make Graves and Junior Senior, amongst others. Cut Copy is signed to the record label Modular in Sydney.
In 2004, Cut Copy released their debut album Bright Like Neon Love. The music is written and produced by frontman Dan Whitford, who is also a graphic designer and DJ. Cut Copy released three singles from this album: "Saturdays," "Future," and "Going Nowhere."
They also released a Fabriclive album featuring a mix of several synth/retro/elektropop songs such as (for example) MSTRKRFT and New Young Pony Club.
Their second album, In Ghost Colours, was released in 2008. Four singles were issued: "So Haunted," "Hearts on Fire," "Lights and Music," and "Far Away."
In 2011, Cut Copy released their third album, Zonoscope, which included the singles "Where I'm Going," "Take Me Over," and "Need You Now." Zonoscope marked the addition of bassist and synthesist Ben Browning to the Cut Copy lineup, making the group a four-piece. Browning had previously supported the band as a touring musician throughout the In Ghost Colours Tour.

In Memory Capsule
Cut Copy Lyrics

As you stole your kiss from me, but how different could I be
To the others, you've been hating
Broken lovers, but it's all over now
All the others, you've been hating
Broken lovers, but it's all over now
Fallen love
Can you feel it
Can you feel it's burning in our minds
Just believe it
Just believe in it once in your lifetime
Can you feel it
Can you feel it's burning in our minds
Just believe it
Just believe in it once in your lifetime
You say I'm the reckless one
So you shy away from love
But I know how long you gonna run
From the things that you want in life
All the others, you've been hating
Broken lovers, but it's all over now
Fallen love
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it burning in our minds?
Just believe it
Just believe it once and a lifetime
Can you feel it?
Can you feel it burning in our minds?
Just believe it
Just believe it once and a lifetime
Fallen love?
Fallen love?
Can you feel it
Can you feel it's burning in our minds
Just believe it
Just believe in it once in your lifetime
Can you feel it
Can you feel it's burning in our minds
Just believe it
Just believe in it once in your lifetime
The song "In Memory Capsule" by Cut Copy is a melodious track that talks about the complexities of love and relationships. The singer of the song retorts to a person who calls themselves a refugee from the long-term loving scene. The singer offers a kiss to the person, even though they feel no different than others who have been hated by this person. The singer also knows that the person he's talking to is afraid of love, so they're running from it, but they won't be able to escape what they really want in life forever.
The chorus of the song is a rhetorical question, "Can you feel it?", which is addressed to the same person. The question asks if they can sense the burning feeling between the two of them, which is representative of their feelings for each other. The singer wants the person to believe in the intensity of their love, just once in their lifetime, and to acknowledge the powerful attraction that they share.
Overall, "In Memory Capsule" is a captivating song that describes the intricacies of love and relationships, and the importance of acknowledging and embracing one's feelings.

I love how Cut Copy mix 60s psychedelia with the 80s synth, Architectonica did something similar on their latest album... it just creates a great nostalgic vibe
