But when you start playing «Vektlaus» it’s soon evident that Kvammen is an artist who enjoys having a knife to his throat. With the help of famous musicians and his producer Even Ormestad, the man from Geilo has carved out an astoundingly vital album that bubbles with melodies, big emotions and a reckless delight in conveying music.
The sound is a lot more synth-driven and modern than on the debut album, but thematically, Kvammen’s lyrics on «Vektlaus» are centered around the eternal topic. Love, and specifically the loss of it, permeates the nine songs that constitute the record. With a commendable openness, the different stages of a breakup is portrayed, and our thoughts go to classic breakup albums like Springsteen’s «Tunnel Of Love» and Dylan’s «Blood On The Tracks».
But there’s light even in the deepest darkness, and in the album’s epic final song, «Det beste ventar fortsatt», Daniel rises from the ashes and the chaos, and establishes that:
Universet det er stort
Og me er så små me to

The lyrics of Daniel Kvammen's song Satelitt depict a feeling of detachment and apathy towards one's surroundings. The first line, "Svart masse kryp opp veggen" (Black mass creeps up the wall), portrays a dark sense of foreboding and anticipation, hinting at something unknown and unsettling. The following line, "Heime der eg bur" (Home where I live), ties the sense of unease to the singer's personal space, as if there is no escape. The next line, "Og rommet ekspanderar" (And the room expands), suggests a sense of disorientation and confusion, as if the singer's perception of reality is distorted. Finally, "Og planetane snur" (And the planets turn), adds to the sense of insignificance and detachment, as if the singer is small and unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
The second verse, "Eg har trudd på tru, og eg har trudd på vitenskap" (I have believed in faith, and I have believed in science), sets up a contrast between two ways of understanding the world. However, the following line, "Men alt det der opphøyrde" (But all that ended), suggests a disillusionment or disappointment with both. The final line, "og eg var likeglad" (and I was indifferent), expresses a sense of resignation or acceptance of this state of detachment and disconnection.
Overall, Satelitt is a song that captures a feeling of alienation and detachment, combining both a sense of foreboding and confusion with a resigned acceptance of this state of being.
