Venancio
Dantesco Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Corre... Corre que te agarra
Y tu alma se lleva a vagar con el
Amaneceras en el río
Quemado tu cuerpo y nadie sabrá por qué

Venancio! Aquí están tus cenizas

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Dantesco's song "Venancio" tell the story of a man named Venancio, a fisherman who lived during a time of hunger and desperation. Venancio became the provider for his family by catching fish in the river that flows through the land of terror. Throughout his life, he was surrounded by darkness, which was the constant companion of his reality. Despite this, Venancio was always faithful to the river's waters. However, on a cold and rainy night, Venancio became seriously ill, and the cold eventually took his life. Before he passed away, he cursed his eternity, and his soul failed to find salvation. Now, he roams the hills, and the ashes of his cross are the only way to appease his anger and sadness.

The song's lyrics are quite somber, with a strong emphasis on the supernatural and the occult. Venancio is portrayed as a man of faith, but his ultimate fate is tragic. The lyrics are suggestive of a cautionary tale, warning against the consequences of anger and cursing one's destiny. There is a deep sense of sorrow in the singer's voice as he tells the story of Venancio, and the haunting melody of the song complements the dark and eerie ambiance of the lyrics.

Interestingly, the song drew inspiration from real-life events that took place in a remote region of Puerto Rico. The story of Venancio is based on the legend of "El Pescador de Parguera," a local fisherman who became famous for his ability to catch fish using only his bare hands. The legend became more widely known after a series of mysterious fires and unexplained occurrences happened in the Parguera-Lajas area in the 1970s. The legend of El Pescador is still a popular topic among paranormal enthusiasts and thrill-seekers in Puerto Rico.
