Born on June 28, 1950 in Seattle musician David Lanz started his performing… Read Full Bio ↴Born on June 28, 1950 in Seattle musician David Lanz started his performing career in his early teens back in the mid 1960s playing keyboards with local rock bands and then years later as a solo act, deftly playing blues and jazz songs in small smoky clubs. He "stumbled" onto a different path in the early 80s. Now working as a seminal new age artist, though he prefers the label "contemporary instrumental", his piano-driven music has attracted a wide variety of fans, with multiple albums under his belt. He is perhaps best known for 'Cristofori's Dream', certified gold by the RIAA in 1993.

Mr. Lanz is my all-time favorite pianists. I must have six or seven of his cds. Even though a few songs are duplicated on them, I still enjoy listening. Who needs blood pressure meds when you have David's songs to soothe your soul?

David used to open his home up for very intimate concerts 3-4 times a year. I’m talking 15 people or so with wine and snacks and of course his wife Kristen who is a world class singer. Been there twice and my wife sat on the bench right next to him while he played this one. Absolute virtuoso!

I used to play this song along with David Lanz every day on my baby grand. When I was in a coma in 2008 I forgot how to play the piano. This song is waking me up finally. I still get frustrated at times, but soon it will all be there.

In some ways, I like this even more than the original by Procol Harem. And I grew up in the 70's with their music. The piano version puts the listener on a whole other level of listening.

This is one of my favorite music. But I am sorry to say this video not the one in the David Lanz's "Christofori's Dream" album. I prefer that one much better.
