De Havenzangers werd opgericht in 1977. Aanvankelijk waren zij gespecialiseerd in oud-Hollandse zeemansliedjes. De band is vooral in het Nederlandse schnabbelcircuit bekend, maar heeft eind jaren tachtig ook in de Verenigde Staten en Canada getoerd.

Bekende nummers waarmee De Havenzangers zich populair heeft gemaakt, zijn onder andere Greetje uit de polder (1979), Daar bij de waterkant (1979) (beide zijn oorspronkelijk van Eddy Christiani), 's Nachts na tweeën (1983), Trouw niet voor je veertig bent (1987) (oorspronkelijk van het Lowland Trio) en Oh Mona (1987).

In 2006 brachten de Havenzangers rond het WK Voetbal van dat jaar een nieuw plaatje uit, getiteld Hand in hand achter Oranje. Met televisiepersoonlijkheid Henkjan Smits werd vervolgens een verbale vete uitgevochten nadat deze zich laatdunkend over het nummer zou hebben uitgelaten. Ook zou Smits de Havenzangers 'uitgerangeerd' hebben genoemd.

De Havenzangers bestond de laatste jaren uit Henk Pleket en Willem Mulder. In augustus 2007 werd echter bekendgemaakt dat Pleket solo door zou gaan als Havenzanger Henk Pleket. Een reden hiervoor werd niet opgegeven. Willem Mulder vervolgde zijn loopbaan eerst solo. Later begon hij een nieuw duo samen met zijn zoon Wesley onder de naam Mulder & Mulder.

Every single character got to shine in this, in such an amazing way. This was the perfect session.

Percy's quick thinking got his friends to find them before it was too late.

Vex landed the final HDYWTDT.

Pike's Spiritual Weapon was the best fucking use of that spell ever.

Keyleth terrifying the enemy with her sunbeam spell, and just killing it as a level 20 druid in general.

Grog completely pinning the enemy down, singlehandedly keeping them from getting away while poisoned.

And of course Scanlan, with the most touching use of Wish of all time. And you can tell he still doesn't feel it's enough, after he couldn't use it in time to save Vax.

I cant come up with a sentence strong enough to describe how great this session was. Bravo everyone. And of course, bravo Matt for bringing Sylas back at such a perfect time.

When they eventually get to the last series of The Legend of Vox Machina, this seriously has to be the last episode. Just imagine the last shot of Percy and Vex'ahalia kissing, as it pans up to the sun rise, a raven flying away from the cliff. And then in the background you just hear Scanlan: "Pike, I caught the bouqeut!" Grog: "Oh no you didn't!", followed by a scream, heavy impact and further ensuing chaos, as the music gently fades out, to the final end credits.

I'm absolutely devastated. I started watching these cause of the show and going from Percy as a kid desperately trying to escape the Briarwoods and falling in the water, thinking he was alone and his entire family was dead, to Percy as an adult, Lord of Whitestone, flailing in the water knowing he to swim away because his family would be coming to help him, even though he was leaving Vex, then telling Sylas he wasn't afraid of him anymore. I hope they include this special in the show, as much as I loved the ending it's filled with so many incredible moments.

So Pike and Grog have to protect the 5 de Rolo children from actual danger while trying not to keep them from being scared.

Poor Liam, every Vox Machina one shot he's gotta cook up a new character that belongs near enough to this group to be wrapped up in their shenanigans, and he gets far less of the nostalgia boost that all of the others playing their characters get.

It blew my mind when I realized Marisha was actually an amazing roleplayer, and Keyleth was the cringelord. She tried to cast a spell with a verbal component. In Matt's underwater rules in previous episodes, that costs you most / all of the air in your lungs, I forget which. So there's some justification for it.

(I thought she also knew Conjure Animals, though. The wiki says she does, so even if a failed casting used up her only 4th level spell slot (which it probably shouldn't have but Matt didn't correct her quiet mention of not having a 4th level slot left later), she could have tried again for dolphins. Also, if Keyleth had thought of Air Elemental right away, she might have got there a few rounds sooner. :/)

After the underwater clusterfuck that was the Kraken fight, I can't imagine Percy wouldn't have immediately begun devising waterproof shot casings so that his guns wouldn't be completely unusable after being submerged. Lots of practice. I've taught myself to make some pretty good imitations of noises, like crumpling paper, arrows whizzing through the air, etc. It's all about hearing the sound and then doing your best to recreate that sound (forming the right shape with your mouth, where to set your tongue, how to flex your throat muscles to encourage the right sound). It's definitely an art and it takes practice.

I agree with the first part of this whole heartedly, but.. soap opera's and k- dramas take themselves too seriously. Whereas this set of characters drink and make jokes, whilst breaking the third wall here and there. And while all that is happening, they simultaneously building these all too real characters that can be felt as real. My argument being, I could never stick around for a soap or k drama for long enough to ever care.

That being said I can see why people might cry over an obviously fake scenario.

I love that this is basically a love letter to one another in a group in a very strange way. Pike referencing Liam’s one shot, “we were richer for having known you." Multiple speeches mentioning that this is a family that we chose as they sit among chosen family members within their group of 8 very close friends. Sam bringing back Liam’s character at least briefly with a wish when that’s what he tried to do at the end of the campaign but couldn’t. All of it is in game gestures about the love of these characters for one another, but the real found family is of course these group of 8 that play pretend together in the most beautiful, ridiculous, funny, touching ways.

Can’t believe I’ve waited this long to watch this as it was just wonderfully beautiful.

And I can't believe Liam was really playing the long game here playing his next characters father-in-law. That's some next level shit
