Dead Letter Circus Lyrics

Of the moment
Defined
We stepped back
And drew a line
There is no more to taste
Through this window of mine
Please step back I'm coming home
If only I could choose
Which way it falls I'm over it
The end of all I know
Is just a footstep further away
And it's alright
You remember the day that we failed the design
Staring back
We drew a line
Breathing
All these things I'm forgetting
I'll change
It's been too long
I am all for beginnings
I'll change
I wanna be the one who says
You thought I completed you
Here this circle ends
We've fed enough from this
We failed
The design
The lyrics to Dead Letter Circus's "The Design" explore themes of change, growth, and the importance of self-awareness. The song begins by reflecting on a past moment that helped to define the singer's life. They recall stepping back and drawing a line - a metaphor for setting boundaries or making a significant decision. From there, the song moves to a plea for others to step back and allow the singer to come home, followed by a desire for more control over their own life.
The chorus implies the singer is ready for change - they vow to move past past failures and take charge of their destiny. The lines "I wanna be the one who says / You thought I completed you" suggest a desire for self-empowerment, rather than relying on others for validation. The final line, "We failed the design", echoes the opening line about a defining moment, highlighting the importance of learning from mistakes and taking control of one's life.
Overall, "The Design" is an introspective song that encourages listeners to take responsibility for their own lives and embrace change as a means of growth.

Pogo8881
A band with amazing talent. That doesn't happen very often these days....
Jack Gannon
Without a doubt, one of the best Aussie bands going.

Such a great band, gives me hope that I can make it. These guys are from the same city as me, got to see them a few times before they got big. The talent was evident from the start, and to the people saying they're not a Sumerian enough band, DLC don't need breakdowns to make people like them.

Well with the name of a Thrice album, you have a chance kid!

Nice song and I love the art work that the dude, who made this album cover, does. His art project is called "Parable Visions" and his name is Cameron Gray.
