This is not the first time it's loud
Shouting for more space
And I can only hear this one sound
I am now awake
Stepping out and breaking from lines
Something has been changed
But not enough to make up your mind
And I just don't know
How much more that I can take
I can't stand in this line anymore
Now I know I can feel this
I can't even decide if I know
How to be whatever this is
Take each breath at a time
Just to hold myself here now disarmed
Who's in control now I'm awake
I'll throw one straight stone
At a time at this fearful reflection
Of my face in front of me, I'll change
It's grown hard now to breathe
I will learn and I will find a new way
Is it a mistake, this is not the first time
It's loud, shouting for more space
And I can only hear this one sound
I can't stand in this line anymore
Now I know I can feel this
Who's in control now I'm awake, cos I am not
I'll throw one straight stone
At a time at this fearful reflection
Of my face in front of me, I'll change
It's grown hard now to breathe
I will learn and I will find a new way
I'll throw one straight stone
At a time at this fearful reflection
Of my face in front of me, I'll change
It's grown hard now to breathe
I will learn and I will find a new way
Who's in control now I'm awake
'Till the end of this long hour
This one thing, that I really wanna know
Who's in control now I'm awake
'Till the end of this long hour
This one thing, that I really wanna know
I can't stand in this line anymore
Now I know I can feel this
Who's in control now I'm awake, cos I am not
I'll throw one straight stone
At a time at this fearful reflection
Of my face in front of me, I'll change
It's grown hard now to breathe
I will learn and I will find a new way
I'll throw one straight stone
At a time at this fearful reflection
Of my face in front of me, I'll change
It's grown hard now to breathe
I will learn and I will try, now to breathe
I'll learn to define, how this feels
I'll learn, I can't wait in this line
It's not who I am
Dead Letter Circus's song "This Long Hour" is a reflective piece about breaking free from the monotony of life and discovering one's true self. The first few lines of the song reveal the singer's desire to escape the noise and chaos of the world and find a sense of clarity. They have become awakened to the fact that they are simply a product of the system and have lost touch with their true identity. The line "Something has been changed, but not enough to make up your mind" is a powerful statement about the struggle of breaking free from the status quo.
As the song progresses, the singer realizes that they are in control of their own life and must take action to change their circumstance. The line "I'll throw one straight stone at a time at this fearful reflection of my face in front of me, I'll change" is a clear indication of this mindset. The fear that once held them back is now driving them to make drastic changes and find a new way forward. The repetition of the line "I can't stand in this line anymore" emphasizes their newfound self-awareness and determination to find their own path.
The chorus emphasizes this desire to break free, with the line "Who's in control now I'm awake, cos I am not". The singer recognizes that they must take control of their own life and not let external factors influence their decisions. The line "I will learn and I will find a new way" reinforces their resilience and determination to succeed.
Overall, "This Long Hour" is an inspiring and introspective song about finding one's self and breaking free from the constraints of society.
