Day's film career began during the latter part of the Classical Hollywood Film era with the 1948 film Romance on the High Seas, and its success sparked her twenty-year career as a motion picture actress. She starred in a series of successful films, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. She played the title role in Calamity Jane (1953), and starred in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956) with James Stewart. Her most successful films were the bedroom comedies she made co-starring Rock Hudson and James Garner, such as Pillow Talk (1959) and Move Over, Darling (1963), respectively. She also co-starred in films with such leading men as Clark Gable, Cary Grant, David Niven, and Rod Taylor. After her final film in 1968, she went on to star in the CBS sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968โ1973).
Day was usually one of the top ten singers between 1951 and 1966. As an actress, she became the biggest female film star in the early 1960s, and ranked sixth among the box office performers by 2012. In 2011, she released her 29th studio album, My Heart, which became a UK Top 10 album featuring new material. Among her awards, Day has received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a Legend Award from the Society of Singers. In 1960, she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and in 1989 was given the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. In 2004, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush followed in 2011 by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. She was one of the last surviving stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.
Her death was announced by her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation, on Monday 13th May 2019.

Any Way the Wind Blows
Doris Day Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
'Least I don't lie about that
Kind of comfort in you
Comes when you lie right back
Safe from such a strange point of view
To hear your own words on you
You are any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in
Don't wanna come down too low
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in
Any way the wind blows in
Similar creatures we are
Chasing the pipe dream down
Love elusive so far
Keeps us divided now
Go, go on and write me love songs
So I have something to sing when your gone
How much do you go to be gone?
You are any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in
Don't wanna come down too low
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in
Don't wanna come down
Do you know the way
To be in one place but sway?
Anyway the wind's blowin'
You are love, you are love
You are monsters and angels
Untouched, unseen
All in one, all in one
I take all that you are
'Cause you're just like me
But you move and it's hard
To stay close to a satellite
So I lose sight of you
Till you come round again
I'm watching the wind
Hey ay, hey ay, ay
Anyway the wind's blowin'
How much do you go to be gone?
You are any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in
Don't wanna come down too low
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows in
Don't wanna come down
Do you know the way
To be in one place but stay?
Any way the wind's blowin'
Any way the wind's blowin'
Doris Day's "Anyway the Wind Blows" is a track that is open to interpretation. The song delves into a complicated relationship and highlights the idea of being connected yet separated. The singer's truth is something she keeps within, but she does not lie about it. The comfort that the singer craves is only available when her significant other lies down beside her. However, the pair experiences division due to the elusive nature of love, which is a pipe dream.
The lyrics also feature the idea of being lost within oneself, similar to how the wind blows in any direction. The character recognizes that her partner is like her, a monster and an angel that is untouched and unseen, all in one. Despite the similarities, it is hard to stay close to her partner, who moves with the unpredictability of a satellite. The character must watch the wind and wait for her partner to circle back into her life.
The chorus repeats the idea of not wanting to come down too low, emphasizing the need for freedom and not wanting to be constrained. The character is looking for a way to be in one place but stay free. It can be seen as a song about finding one's way in a complicated relationship and realizing the conflicting desire for connection and freedom.

Doris Day always had a gentle, yet forceful way about her, mix those traits with a lovely sing. A spiritual and angelical teacher of good mommy allure and a "mother-to-take-home-to-mother, and you had the whole love. Oh, and she could sing like a little teacher of life. One of the all-time greats!
@waynebrasler
This was such an unusual number to put in the film. I believe it was intended to tie-in with the planned eventual commercial record release of the song. It really is what any community production looks like with one tip-off it's not. The righthand male dancer at the end assumes a ballet position! Doris loved doing fun numbers like this and she is infectious start to finish and I think inspires everyone else on camera to join in the spirit.
