Long Ago
Eddie Fisher Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Dreary days are over
Life's a four-leaf clover
Sessions of depression are through
Every hope I longed for
Long ago comes true

Long ago and far away, I dreamed a dream one day
And now that dream is here beside me
Long the skies were overcast but now the clouds have passed
You're here at last

Chills run up and down my spine, Aladdin's lamp is mine
The dream I dreamed was not denied me
Just one look and then I knew
That all I longed for long ago was you

Chills run up and down my spine, Aladdin's lamp is mine
The dream I dreamed was not denied me

Just one look and then I knew
That all I longed for long ago was you

😢😢❤❤ Miss him as a singer... sad what he put himself thru, and the losses he endured. RIP

Us too! What is your favorite song of Eddie?

@Modeltnick

It’s a shame how things go wrong in the lives of the talented and famous. He had a wonderful and powerful singing voice. My favorite of his was “Cindy, Oh Cindy”. It has the ‘50s stamped all over it.

I saw Eddie a couple of times. He had a powerful fantastic singing voice. 😊

I felt sorry for Debbie Reynolds and her children. I thought Elizabeth Taylor was terrible, too. As a youngster, I thought it was terrible that Eddie and Elizabeth dumped Debby Reynolds and their children.

Reflecting on Eddie Fisher's passing 14 years ago, it's disheartening to see new revelations about his scandals emerging now. His legacy, once dominated by musical talent, is now overshadowed by controversy. The complexities of public figures often unravel over time, and Fisher's story is no exception.

I was a little girl when I heard my mother talking about his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. I went to one of those magazines my mother had and looked at both actresses then,, I looked at Eddie Fisher .I didn’t understand why they “both loved him” But I decided I liked Debbie Reynolds better than “The most beautiful woman in the world” as she was known, still Elizabeth Taylor must have seated itself in my child’s mind because I could never stop looking at her pictures after that day

I remember watching Eddie Fisher’s weekly tv show, ‘Coke Time’. He was popular with both mine & my parent’s generation. Excellent voice, charm, & sparkling good looks. It’s pretty easy to see how someone coming from abject poverty suddenly being thrust into wealth & fame would struggle to handle it wisely. Marrying needy & demanding celebrities wouldn’t help. It’s an old Hollywood story. His daughter, Carrie, managed to muster some understanding. Maybe we should give the guy a break.
