After becoming a police officer, like his father, during the late 1960s, Money began to be interested in music, and eventually ended his law enforcement career in favor of becoming a musician. He moved to Berkeley, California and became a regular at area clubs, where he eventually got enough attention to secure a recording contract with Columbia Records. Later in the 1970s, he charted with singles such as "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise". Money continued his successes and took advantage of the MTV music video scene in the early 1980s with his humorous narrative videos for "Shakin'" and "Think I'm in Love", but his career began to fail him after several unsuccessful releases in the mid-1980s, accompanied by his struggles with drug addiction.
Money made a comeback two years later in 1986 and returned to the mainstream rock spotlight with the album Can't Hold Back, which featured a Ronnie Spector duet with "Take Me Home Tonight", which reached the Top 10, along with the hit "I Wanna Go Back". Money followed the album with another Top 10 hit, late 1988's "Walk on Water", but his Top 40 career ended when "I'll Get By" charted in 1992. During the 1990s and 2000s, Money continued to release numerous compilation albums along with several albums featuring new material. Today, he still tours the "Oldies" circuit regularly, often accompanied by other successful rock acts from his era, and has also made several television appearances on American sitcoms. Since 1992, Money has traditionally opened the summer concert season for DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI.
Eddie Money passed away from complications related to esophageal cancer in 2019 at the age of 70.
Things Are Much Better Today

Everything's lookin' okay
Somehow we'll both find our way
Things are much better today
Rags to riches is a lonely game
Workin' too hard drives a boy insane
Give you my money, keep you satisfied
Gotta keep the pace
To keep my in the race
But now I do it straight
Instead of 'Go man go, go, go!'
Well it's all right now
Everything's lookin' okay
Somehow we'll both find our way
Things are much better today
Oh they can't believe it I'm a brand new man
I used to not didn't give a damn
Look at cha baby, what'cha done to me
You treat me so good, man it's hard to believe
Gotta take it slow
Instead of 'Go man go'
Keep it in control
It's only rock 'n' roll
Well it's all right now
Everything's lookin' okay
The world's a little (bit) brighter
Than it was yesterday
Well it's all right now
Everything's lookin' okay
Somehow we'll both find our way
Things are much better today
And in the morning when the sun starts to shine
Your face is next to mine
And in the evening when the sun goes down
I know you'll be around, you'll be around
Well it's all right now
Everything's lookin' okay
The world's a little (bit) brighter
Than it was yesterday
Well it's all right now
Everything's lookin' okay
Somehow we'll both find our way
Things are much better today
Things are much better
Much better, much better today
The verses in Eddie Money's song "Things Are Much Better Today" paint a picture of someone who has come from rags to riches and has worked hard to keep up with the pace of life. The lyrics "Rags to riches is a lonely game, Workin' too hard drives a boy insane" convey the message that wealth and success come at a cost, and that the pressure to maintain that success can be overwhelming. The chorus, however, brings a message of hope and optimism. The repetition of "Well it's all right now" reinforces the idea that things have gotten better, and the line "Somehow we'll both find our way" suggests that the singer is not alone in this journey.
The second verse emphasizes the importance of finding balance in life, and the message that it’s tempting to push oneself to the limit, but that one must take measured steps. It's clear that finding this balance is challenging, but the singer has found it, thanks to his "baby". The line "You treat me so good, man it's hard to believe" conveys the sense that the singer is surprised and delighted at how much his life has changed.
Overall, "Things Are Much Better Today" is a song about the ups and downs of life, and how it's possible to overcome adversity and find happiness. The song brings a message of hope, suggesting that even when things seem bleak, there is always a chance for improvement.
