Combien de Noël

On attend encore ton appel
On attend encore ton appel
In Emilie-Claire Barlow's song "Combien de Noël," the lyrics speak of a longing for someone's presence during the holiday season. The song conveys a sense of anticipation and waiting for news from this person, hoping that they will be able to join in the festivities of Christmas. The lyrics express a feeling of nostalgia for past holiday traditions and the magic that seems to have faded without this person's presence.
The opening lines, "Ça fait longtemps qu'on n'a pas de tes nouvelles, On attend encore ton appel" (It's been a long time since we've heard from you, We're still waiting for your call), highlight the absence of communication and the longing for contact. The lyrics convey a sense of yearning and a desire to know if this person will be able to join in the celebrations before everything freezes over figuratively.
The chorus, "Sans toi les chants de Noël sonnent faux, L'étoile ne scintille plus, Tu ne seras jamais de trop, Tu es toujours attendu" (Without you, the Christmas songs sound false, The star doesn't twinkle anymore, You will never be too much, You are always expected), emphasize the importance of this person's presence and the significance they hold during the holiday season. Their absence makes the songs and the magic feel incomplete, and their return is eagerly awaited.
