She became famous thanks to her single Breakable, which was released in February 2001. In May 2001 her second single Crashing Down and her debut album Solitary Motions were released. Two other quite well known songs from that album are Green Car and Solitary Motions. She was nominated as the Best Nordic Act by MTV Europe Music Awards in 2001. There are two versions of Emmi's second album No Nothing. The first one was released only for Finnish market in October 2002. The second one was released for international as well as Finnish market in early 2003. The differences between the versions are the order of songs and the fact that the second version contains two tracks that are not contained in the first version, namely Into The World and World Is Crazy. Conversely, the song Toss Me Down is contained in the first version but not in the second one.
The single Eileen was released in 2005. On October 5, 2005, Emmi's third album Can Full of Joy was released.

Green began her musical career after being signed to a music publisher in Australia, writing songs for Neil Davidge of Massive Attack and Little Nikki.
Green cites classical music, jazz and Shirley Temple movies as her influences.

Emmi
Say you do
Say you will
Give in to this mood
Give into your will
I saw starglit in your eyes
Smile, the world is in your smile
Staring down
On the ground
There's breaking news
In your shoes
Saw starglit in your eyes
Smile, the world is in your smile
I saw starglit in your eyes smile
Starglit in your, starglit in your eyes
Starglit in your, starglit in your eyes
I saw starglit in your eyes
Smile, the world is in your smile
The world is in your smile
The lyrics of Emmi's song Starglit convey a sense of anticipation and desire for the other person to give in to their feelings. The lines "Say you do, Say you will, Give in to this mood, Give into your will" indicate a willingness to let go and surrender. The focus then shifts to the person's eyes, reflecting the emotions and feelings they are experiencing. The lines "I saw starglit in your eyes, Smile, the world is in your smile" show the singer's admiration for the other person's beauty and happiness.
The next lines "Staring down, On the ground, There's breaking news, In your shoes" reflect a sense of vulnerability and hesitation. The person may be feeling overwhelmed by the intensity of their emotions, and there may be external factors affecting their mood. Finally, the song comes full circle, with the repetition of "I saw starglit in your eyes, Smile, the world is in your smile" emphasizing the importance of the other person's happiness and joy.
