Kamikaze
End of Fashion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We shake our booties but we're better than that

Man with a gun keep walking on lightly
This lazy student be a part of the act
Coming on strong
You said nothing
You said nothing at all
Instead of waiting I'll be counting to ten
Patience will end, man I've been worried
And I've been letting lies dictate my acts
Finding the facts oh so disappointing

All you common fools
We are breaking every rule that ever stood
So much that I have lost all of my friends
Satisfy this man, satisfy him
He'll be coming to get ya

The kamikaze pilot causes the crash
Man he's got class
Loves these Japanese ladies
And I've been letting lies dictate my acts
Finding the facts oh so disappointing

All you common fools
We are breaking every rule that ever stood
So much that I have lost all of my friends

Satisfy this man, satisfy him
He'll be coming to get ya

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to End of Fashion's "Kamikaze" are introspective, and deal with feelings of disillusionment and anxiety in the face of uncertainty. The song seems to be about the struggle to stay true to oneself in a world that often expects us to conform to certain expectations. The opening line, "We shake our booties but we're better than that," suggests a desire to break free from societal norms and expectations. The song then delves into a series of verses that describe the singer's frustration with their own lack of clarity about their purpose, as well as their fear of being taken advantage of by others.

The lyrics "Man with a gun keep walking on lightly, this lazy student be a part of the act" implies that someone is threatening the singer with a gun, and they feel compelled to go along with whatever the aggressor wants them to do. The following lines show the singer's internal struggle as they consider taking action: "Instead of waiting I'll be counting to ten, patience will end, man I've been worried." The chorus then serves as a rallying cry for anyone who feels disillusioned with society: "All you common fools, we are breaking every rule that ever stood, so much that I have lost all of my friends."

The song climaxes with the titular reference to kamikaze pilots, who were known for their suicidal attacks during World War II. The lyrics "The kamikaze pilot causes the crash, man he's got class, loves these Japanese ladies" suggest a wry critique of the glorification of war heroes and the romanticization of violence. The song ends with a final plea to "satisfy this man," which could be interpreted as a call to action for anyone who feels helpless or powerless in the face of societal pressures.

In that case, Welcome to youtube! It is unfortunate that Dexter turned up wheni it did for you, but thats always the way isnt it!? If you didnt get this idea from Dexter than you have the kind of Morbid Twistedness that I can appreciate, and it is amazingly directed. A triumph no matter how bad the timing is. Dexter is fairly commercial, really not worth watching if you can read the books...

I bet the director had at least read the book series of Dexter, nothing is that much of a coincidence. YES people, dexter is based on a series of books by Jeff Lindsay, Tinseltown doesn't get that original all on its little lonesome.
