The band eventually broke up in 1996 and Bunbury started his solo career in 1997 with a techno album, Radical Sonora with his new band: Copi (piano), del Moran (bass), Ramón Gacias (drums) and former Héroes del Silencio guitarrist Alan Boguslavsky.
Recognized by his wish to always reinvent himself, Bunbury released in 1999 the album Pequeño, which sounded much different than anything he did before. His band also suffered changes, Boguslavsky was replaced by Rafa Domínguez, and the new faces, Ana Belén Estaje (violin), Luis Miguel Romero (percussion), Javier Iñigo, Javier García Vega & Antonio Ríos in the metal instruments.
This band was known as the "Huracán Ambulante" ("Rambling Hurricane") and recorded with Bunbury the rest of his solo discography, (except Antonio Ríos).
In 2005, after 8 years together, Bunbury dissolved the band and declared that will record a new album in 2006 only with his voice and a piano. Nevertheless, in early 2006 he recorded an album with spanish artist Nacho Vegas by the name of El tiempo de las cerezas.
His old band, Héroes del Silencio, reunited in 2007 for a short tour which visited Latin America, United States and Spain.
El Jinete
Enrique Bunbury Lyrics

Va cabalgando un jinete
Vaga solito en el mundo
Y va deseando la muerte
Lleva en su pecho una herida
Va con su alma destrozada
Quisiera perder la vida
La quería mas que a su vida
Y la perdió para siempre
Por eso lleva una herida
Por eso busca la muerte
Con su guitarra cantando
Se pasa noches enteras
Hombre y guitarra llorando
A la luz de las estrellas
Después se pierde en la noche
Y aunque la noche es muy bella
El va pidiéndole a Dios
Que se lo lleve con ella
La quería mas que a su vida
Y la perdió para siempre
Por eso lleva una herida
Por eso busca la muerte
In Enrique Bunbury's song "El Jinete," the lyrics describe a lone rider who travels through a distant mountain wishing for death. He carries a wound in his chest and his soul is shattered, yearning to be reunited with his beloved who he loved more than life but lost forever. The rider's only companions are his guitar and the stars in the sky. He spends his nights singing and crying with his guitar, but the pain of his loss never leaves him. He wanders through the night, always seeking the company of his lost love. Even though the night is beautiful, his only prayer to God is that he be reunited with her in death.
The song holds a certain mystique that is almost inexplicable. The rider’s journey becomes a metaphor in the quest for the truth that lies somewhere beyond. The repetition and the meditative quality of the lyrics create a sense of restlessness and yearning. The song’s emotion is created through the tension between the beauty of the music and the sadness of the lyrics. The words speak to our deepest desires, the ones we don’t share with anyone else, even ourselves.
