I tore my heart out and I wore it on my sleeve
You made me bleed to hear me scream
Your lungs are filling you're forgetting how to breathe
Lay me down, forever asleep
My life was destined to be dreams
But dreams mean nothing when you're six feet underneath
Words are meaningless, wrought with disease
An honest man now laid to rest
Fueled by anger now look where you are
Are you happy with what you've become
A future ahead has gone to waste
The clock ticks, time is running out
Who knew that life could be so short and sometimes filled with doubt
I hear the reaper coming, can you hear it
To choose a path of hate and pain
Can you bear it
Dear friends and family
Life is short, don't just mourne
Have fun and celebrate
You won't have me, but you'll still have each other
With love comes strength you can make it through together
My life was destined to be dreams
But dreams mean nothing when you're six feet underneath
Words are meaningless, wrought with disease
To all my loved ones, my friends and family
My life was destined to be dreams
But dreams mean nothing, no they mean nothing
Words are meaningless, wrought with disease
To all my loved ones, my friends and family
An honest man now laid to rest
Focused on pain now look where you are
Can you sleep knowing what you've done
Thanks to you a friend is dead
Dear friends and family
Life is short, don't just mourne
Have fun and celebrate
You won't have me, but you'll still have each other
With love comes strength you can make it through together
The lyrics of Eric's song "The Letter" delve into themes of emotional turmoil, regret, and the fragility of life. The artist draws a stark contrast between themselves and someone else, highlighting a sense of betrayal and hurt. The imagery of tearing one's heart out and wearing it on their sleeve evokes vulnerability and openness, while the mention of bleeding and screaming suggests a deep pain inflicted by the other person. The line, "Your lungs are filling you're forgetting how to breathe," conveys a sense of suffocation and desperation, hinting at a relationship that is toxic and stifling. This initial part of the lyrics sets a tone of emotional intensity and inner conflict.
As the lyrics progress, the focus shifts towards mortality and the ephemeral nature of existence. The artist contemplates their own mortality, expressing a sense of resignation and acceptance of their fate. The idea of being forever asleep and destined to be dreams portrays a sense of foreboding and finality. The repetition of the phrase "dreams mean nothing when you're six feet underneath" underscores the notion that aspirations and ambitions lose their significance in the face of death. The artist reflects on the futility of words and communication, highlighting the emptiness and hollowness of interactions tainted by discord and disease.
The tone of the lyrics takes a poignant turn as the artist addresses their loved ones, friends, and family. There is a sense of reflection and introspection as they contemplate the impact of their actions and choices on those around them. The artist acknowledges the finality of death and urges their loved ones to not just mourn but also to celebrate life. The emphasis on unity and strength in the face of loss conveys a message of resilience and solidarity. The repetition of the refrain, "With love comes strength you can make it through together," reinforces the idea of finding solace and support in the bonds of affection and companionship.
The lyrics culminate in a plea for introspection and redemption. The artist confronts the consequences of destructive behavior and the weight of guilt and remorse. There is a sense of reckoning and accountability as the artist grapples with the impact of their actions on others. The sobering realization of irreversible loss and the finality of death loom large in the lyrics, serving as a cautionary tale about the consequences of anger, pain, and betrayal. The closing lines serve as a poignant reminder of the fleeting nature of life, urging listeners to cherish the moments they have and to find strength in unity and love amidst the trials and tribulations of existence.

Senator Josh Hawley and conservative media host Eric Metaxas have both been featured at rallies held by Sean Feucht, a worship leader from the epicenter of the NAR movement, Bethel Church. Whether or not these and other right-wing figures personally hold dominionist beliefs, they are clearly influenced by dominionism.
In the words of George Grant, a dominionist who wrote The Changing of the Guard: Biblical Principles for Political Action:
It is dominion we are after. Not just a voice. It is dominion we are after. Not just influence. It is dominion we are after. Not just equal time. It is dominion we are after. World conquest. That’s what Christ has commissioned us to accomplish .
