Dark Comtessa
Escape With Romeo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
a black fantasy
her eyes from nowhere land
they are conjuring me
There's a curse in the place
and no one dares to speak
I see the sign of the cross
Dark comtessa
you only want everything
dark comtessa
lost in eternal sin
Lucifer's rising
in a corner of the room
I see skeletons dance
as I'm waiting to be doomed
Nothing can break the spell
I feel like zombified
as she takes my hand
we wander through the night
Dark comtessa
you only want everything
dark comtessa
lost in eternal sin
The lyrics of "Dark Comtessa" by Escape with Romeo paint a vivid picture of a dark and foreboding atmosphere. The song tells the story of an encounter with a woman who is described as the "spider's web," drawing the singer in with her mysterious and alluring presence. Her eyes are "from nowhere land," and they seem to have the power to conjure him towards her.
The imagery in the song is almost gothic in nature, with a curse hanging over the place and no one daring to speak of it. The singer sees the sign of the cross, indicating the presence of evil, and suggests that hell is where they will meet. As the song progresses, Lucifer is mentioned, and we see skeletons dancing in the corner of the room. The spell of the dark comtessa seems to be unbreakable, and the singer feels zombified and powerless to resist her.
The song suggests that the dark comtessa only wants everything and is lost in eternal sin. It's a cautionary tale about the danger of getting ensnared in the allure of forbidden desires, and the consequences that can come with giving in to temptation.
