Eh, guns still deals less damage than melee weapons. Think about it, what's more damaging and lethal, a bullet hole to your body, or a cut across your stomach spilling your entire guts out. Or a bullet hole on your limbs, vs having that entire limb getting cut off.
What guns really does well, and why they eventually forced armies to phase out melee weapons, is
- The ease of use of a firearm
- The range of a firearm, and by extension, the relative safety of the user
Using a gun is easy. Point at things you want Isekai, and move your finger. Congrats, they're dead, no need for good physical strength, stamina, or dexterity, just waggle your finger. And you can do this without getting close to them, where the difference in physical prowess would actually make a difference. It's why firearms are called "the Great Equalizer" because it doesn't matter if you're the most Giga of Chads, or the wimpiest person form the old folks home, the gun will always deal the same amount of fixed damage regardless of stats. Perfect for dealing with and disabling the low HP, susceptible to pain, human, less so for, say, a giant, who has large amounts of HP, or a dragon, who has natural armor. The only way for guns to deal more damage is to hit it where it hurts, AKA dealing "Critical Hits", and also the bullets you use, ya know big bullets go boom boom, but them crits is important for taking down anything quickly.
And even if you're using guns in close range, where you could get stabbed or hit by a melee weapon, as long as you have the speed and space to maneuver around, melee becomes a lot less threatening. Just think of the Pinky demons from Doom, they're big and intimidating, but offers little threat to the player until they corner the player.
Melee weapons are strong, stronger than guns. The problem is closing the distance to actually melee the gun user, and having the stats to use melee weapons.
