After releasing six studio albums, including best-selling records The Real Thing (1989) and Angel Dust (1992), Faith No More officially announced its breakup on April 20, 1998. The band has since reunited, conducting The Second Coming Tour between 2009 and 2010, and releasing its seventh studio album, Sol Invictus, in May 2015. After the touring cycle of Sol Invictus, Faith No More went on hiatus once again. In November 2019, the band announced that it would reunite to embark on a 2020 UK and European tour, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this was postponed. Touring was due to recommence with a brief US tour in September 2021, followed by the previously postponed UK and Europe dates in June 2022, but all tour dates were cancelled with Patton citing mental health reasons.

Faith No More Lyrics

My mission
When the dawn breaks
With a handshake
Relaxed and feelin' great
Screeching head on
All the day's plans
All the shaking hands
Beepers and suntans
Screeching head on
I'm needing a head on
Collision
My mission
The lyrics to Faith No More's song Collision suggest a sense of urgency and a determination to achieve a particular goal or mission. The song begins with the singer's acknowledgment of the dawn, symbolizing a new beginning, and shaking hands with confidence, and ease. The following lines on "screeching head on" indicates a collision, which could either be metaphoric or literal. The singer mentions all the day's plans and shaking hands, portraying the work environment, and the pressure to fulfill commitments. The mention of beepers possibly suggests the communication technology at that time, which could create an impression of a fast-paced environment.
The repetition of the phrase "I'm needing a head-on" could indicate the frustration of being unable to achieve his/her goal. However, it may also indicate a sense of determination to collide with whatever is stopping the singer from achieving his/her mission. The last line "Collision, my mission" could signify the singer is willing to face anything that comes in the way of achieving a mission, which is most likely significant and crucial to him/her.
