The band released its first demo in 2001, which caught the attention of Lee Barrett and the band was quickly signed onto Elitist Records, a branch of the infamous Earache. The bands debut album A Warm Glimpse was released in the year 2003. It turned out to be a success, especially among the progressive metal circles, and Farmakon was widely noted by the metal press as a band to keep an eye out for.
Farmakon was signed onto by the Finnish FS Records after Elitist Records came crashing down. The band's second album Robin was released in early 2007. The album continues with the band's trademark twist, but also introduces a darker and more focused side of Farmakon.

Farmakon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
dancing against the white
like a butterfly with frozen wings
slowly moving the air around
Throughout this strange world
through my doubts and my fears
I see robins in the air
The hurting halo of love
a shape buried into my heart
I fall to dreams stretching
the endless second of departure
For one moment I know
for a fragment I feel
everything necessary
For one moment I forget all the vain and vanishing
from this vast ocean of eternity
I untie myself from the strains of reality
and live another day
The lyrics of Farmakon's song "Wings" are about finding solace in fleeting moments of escape from the complexities of life. The pencil-drawn lines that dance against the white represent the delicate and fragile nature of existence. The butterfly with frozen wings is a metaphor for feeling trapped and unable to move forward. The slow movement of the air suggests a sense of stagnation or being stuck in one place.
As the song progresses, the lyrics reveal a sense of hope and a willingness to find beauty in the world. The robins in the air symbolize the possibility of renewal and the promise of new beginnings. The "hurting halo of love" is a poignant image of the pain that comes with opening oneself up to vulnerability and the inevitability of loss. The dreams stretching the endless second of departure suggest the possibility of a life beyond death.
Ultimately, the song is about the power of small moments of grace and the need to hold onto them as tightly as possible. For one moment, everything necessary is within reach, and in that moment, all the vain and vanishing aspects of life disappear. Though circumstances may be difficult and reality may be burdensome, these moments of escape allow the singer to live another day.
