In April 2009, a new lineup was announced with Cazares returning and Gene Hoglan as drummer. Bell and Stroud are both reprising their respective roles, and the band completed a seventh studio album entitled Mechanize. Former members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera (both currently playing in Arkaea) dispute the legitimacy of the new lineup, and a legal battle is underway from both parties. The band has performed at three Ozzfests as well as the inaugural Gigantour and has had singles in the US Mainstream Rock Top 40 and albums in the Billboard Top 40, 100, and 200. The band has sold more than 1 million albums in the US alone.

And the flames subside
(we have been forsaken)
Subside
A thousand eyes were upon me
Soulless, and without mind
(we have been forsaken)
Will there never
Will there never
Will there never be an end
If I could be forgiven
Every breath would be a prayer
(we are not forgiven)
Will there never
Will there never
Will there never be an end
I have tread, and spanned the horizon
I've seen this world, the beauty in decay
I strike down the faceless and unknown
I feel blessed, for I can see
The stars look down on me
Stars look down on me
Stars look down on me
Stars look down on me
Will there never
Will there never
Will there never be an end
Will there never be an end
Will there never be an end
Will there never be an end
Stars look down on me
Stars look down on me
Stars look down on me
Stars look down on me
The lyrics of Fear Factory's song Never End talks about the aftermath of a catastrophic event, possibly a war, where the singer is left alone, forsaken, and surrounded by soulless, mindless figures. The recurring question in the song is, "Will there never be an end?" which presents an eerie and hopeless tone. The singer reveals that if they could be forgiven, every breath would be a prayer, but they know that they are not forgiven. The song then shifts to the singer's perspective of the world, where they have seen the beauty in decay and have struck down the faceless and unknown, feeling blessed to see the stars looking down on them.
The song's lyrics encompass a sense of loss, hopelessness, and despair from a catastrophic event that has left everything in shambles. The singer's feeling of religious guilt amplifies their sense of hopelessness as they ask the recurring questions of whether there will ever be an end. The use of the third-person perspective when describing the surroundings and the singer's personal experiences adds an eerie tone to the song while making it seem like the singer has become one with the destruction surrounding them.

When I was at a technical school to get my year 10 certificate, a friendly stoner dude gave me a CD rip of this album (this was about 2000/2001 at the time).
For context, I'd been home schooled and sheltered until this point, so I was 16/17 years old. The only music I'd really heard much of was classical music and classic rock, including stuff like Alice Cooper, Meatloaf (thanks Dad for those), Kiss, and Queen (thanks Mum in particular for those two). Not to mention goddam hymns.
My father always said things like "rap is crap" and how heavy metal was just people screaming hoarsely. The only people I really knew were other home schooled kids, of which I didn't see too often, so I didn't really develop my own musical tastes.
This was nothing like I'd heard before and it was what prompted me to start exploring what kind of music I personally enjoyed. Now, this and Invisible Wounds were my favorite songs, I could take or leave the rest. But those two songs have been etched into my brain.
Today, I don't see my family much, which is good. And though I still enjoy a lot of classic rock like Kiss and Queen (my mum has better taste than dad when it comes to rock music, IMO), it comes with some memories and baggage. But this and Invisible Wounds are free of that. There's a sense of peace and freedom that they give me, a sense of hope.

Totally understand this, I was 14 and it was summer, so we moved to my grandma's house by the beach in south Spain, all my cousins were much older than me so the only thing i had that summer was a crappy cheap acoustic guitar left in the corner of their room and two albums, Digimortal and Still Life by Opeth.
Needless to say i had no friends there and i was listening to this couple of albums all day in a lockdown cause i only got out to take a bath at the sea sometimes and skate.
I practiced guitar at night (my neighboors liked that cause they used to sleep listening to me so when i ceased to go there for summer in subsecuent years they would tell that to my grandma)
So anyway, this couple of tracks, Invisible Wounds (Dark Bodies) and (Memory Imprints) Never Ends were, and still are, my all-time favourite FF songs and i totally understand why, they gave me a sense of space and freedom, inner peace and security. I could fly and expand my conciousness even in that kind of lockdown and boredom
Kinda broke my chains and became a new being haha, next years were way more fun to me lol going to concerts, raves, joining bands and forming mine, touring etc etc
The Man
What a way to close a fantastic record. Digimortal is so underrated. Honestly, no other song could have been better than this one as the final track.
It has both an uplifting energy and a certain uncertainty in the lyrics, and oh my god! That chorus!
Botak Botak
Thats a very fine statement

The Man.....That chorus is my favorite part of the entire album; it just sends you to the outer dimensions of the unknown!

As a freshman in college, I met a dude who would later become my best friend throughout the 1st year. As we experienced ‘higher learning’ 😄, driving, parties, girls and all the other shit that came with being a teen in the 80’s, - we were chillin in his room one day and he gave me this album (remember compact disks? 😄 ) I’m 39 now and I still come back to this album.
