Eclipse
Feeder Lyrics

You and I used to meet the same
Wrapped together in cellophane
We can try to get away
Drift forever, lost in

Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Safe... (We're getting better all the time)

You can try to change my day
Lock me up and you watch me fade
You and I can emulate
Drift together, lost in

Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Safe... (We're getting better all the time)
Safe... (We're getting better all the time)

Decompress again (Pressure, pressure, pressure...)
Take control again
Connected once again
We're starting to descend

Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Safe... (We're getting better all the time)
Safe... (We're getting better all the time)

Space... (We're getting better all the time)
Space... (We're getting better all the time)

Safe... (We're getting better all the time)
Safe... (We're getting better all the time)

Overall Meaning

Feeder's "Eclipse" appears to be about two people who are trying to escape reality and find solace in each other's company. The lyrics indicate that the two individuals used to meet in similar circumstances and were closely intertwined, like being wrapped in cellophane. They are trying to escape from their current situation of feeling trapped and are seeking to get away and drift forever, lost in space. The idea of space in the song seems to represent the infinite possibilities of escape from reality that they are seeking.

The lyrics suggest that the two people find comfort in each other's company and can emulate each other to help drift away, lost in space. However, there seems to be an underlying tension between them, with one person trying to change the other's day and potentially wanting to control them, which threatens to cause them to fade away.

Despite this tension, they are connected and decompressing from the pressure they are facing. They take control of their situation again and are starting to descend back to reality but are making the conscious effort to recognize that they are getting better all the time.

In summary, "Eclipse" appears to be about two people trying to escape their current reality and find solace in each other's company. While they face tension and control issues, they are still connected and actively trying to improve their situation.

this song is very good.... but there arent ALL of their B-sides on POPY? they have so much great songs that deserve to be much more than a b-side.... they all look really young and strong on this cover. how much time went by... jon is dead, sadly, grant looks old and they both have grown long hair again... i really hope they keep it up as long as theyre able to and having fun with it. :)

Springy3200

is it just me or is does this sound a bit like an acoustic version of "Change"?

Aaron McClelland

How cool is Jon's jacket!!!

Feederinourhearts

@AllisterCaine Well, their music actually got old a bit. Their last two albums sound nothing like the first five, which instead still sound fresh to these days! But I have to disagree about their appearance: Grant doesn't really look old to me, quite the opposite!

BlancwayG3

It's funny, this statement was made 8 years ago and it's still agreeable to this day. Grant still looks about mid-30s at the most.

Allister Caine

i dont even know if its the correct word in english, but thats what we call it in german. ^^
